My friend's wife just bought a new A4 and wants a turbo timer.  Where can she get one (she'll need it installed too)?

I think a turbo timer is a waste.  I don't think it worth the potential wiring problems associated with them.  Especailly with the wiring gremlins in a VAG car.

Just learn to take it easy the last few miles of driving the car.  And/or open the door to your car before shutting it down.  When the door dinger stops dinging, it is pretty safe to shut it down.

Just my 2 cents.

ok, I'm not asking for opinions here.  She is a moron and will not drive her car easy or care about her turbo or even knows anything about a turbo.  Her husband knows all of this and wants to buy her a turbo timer because of it.  All I'm asking is where he can get one.

I can hook her up on a killer install deal, $300 and I'll come down and hook them up ;-)

On-line (I prefer Greddy, had good luck on my B5)

yes i've got one and i love it.  i don't drive like an idiot however i am in boost almost the whole way up hwy 24 while i drive to work.  22 psi of boost on a k03 is pushing it pretty hard.  i really don't feel like sitting in my car for 5+ minutes letting the thing cool down.

wiring is simple.  if someone manages to fuck up the wiring on the tt their a fucking moron.

i have a apexi tt.  i have the all black one.

i just did a yahoo search for apexi turbo timer and found 10 places that sell it.

Nope, not grouchy.  All I wanted was for someone to say, "I have this one and it works fine".  Thank you Nate.

I don't have one, but I know several guys in our local clubs here in Chicago that have that exact timer, and they're happy with it.  They also said the install was easy when I asked them about it.

well, in that case, i use the Greddy TT gen 3. you can pick one up from ebay for ~$100 and install is pretty straightforwar d with 4 wires.

as a note, audi's don't allow you to use the key fob to lock and unlock the doors while the engine is still on. if she's dumb enough to not care about the car/turbo, then she's definetly gonna be too dumb to realize that you have to manually lock and unlock the car if the engine is still on.

i give you 2 days before she gets her car stolen.

Not totally true, on my B5 i wired it to lock/unlock w/ the remote with engine on or off.

that's on a b5 though. b6-b7 won't allow it unless you have a TT companion

Just be sure to wire up the e-brake kill option.  If the timer is counting down and the e-brake is released the timer shuts off the car and it can't be restarted without the key plus the steering wheel is locked.
