Most often less is more..especial ly when modifying the older VW's.  Personally that knob does nothing for me other than the fact I know it's a rare piece.  So yes it does have value in that respect.

Would I buy it?  Yes
Would I put it on my car?  No, I would probably just keep it around for the nostalgic value.
