Not sure what happened to the rest of this thread, but it was originally for EaA Amsoil air filters.

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaa.aspx
http://www.amsoil.com/a/catalog.aspx

Reading material on filtration:
http://autoengineer.wordpress.com/2008/04/04/how-to-pick-an-aftermarket-air-intake-filter-that-removes-dust/

For your Military types:
http://autoengineer.wordpress.com/2006/09/24/is-nanofiber-filtration-really-that-big-a-deal/

M1A1 Abrams uses Nano fiber filters:

http://www.ultimatesyntheticoil.com/Filters/Ea_Nanofiber_air_filters.htm

2 micron filtration at 99%

and YES I will give these to anyone on here at my COST, no more, no less.

EaA Filter 208
$26 before shipping (I will charge you actual shipping, just ordering one will be

Quote

       Merchandise Total:    $26.00

       Approximate Shipping:    $7.10
       Sales Tax    $1.60

       Grand Total:    $34.70

Ordering more than one, oil, wipers, etc will obviously bring the combined shipping down.

Dry filter nano media, 4 year 100,000 miles.  Clean every year or 25,000 miles by vacuuming it from the front side or uses an air compressor from the back side.  Light pressure if you use compressed air.  I usually do both.

Let me know if you want to order

$36.75

Before shipping.  If you guys wanted to combine one order it would be:

Quote
Merchandise Total:  $62.75

   Approximate Shipping:  $7.10
   Sales Tax  $3.38

   Grand Total:  $73.23

So as you see, shipping stays the same.  I mark the tax as "personal use" which means they figure it on the price you see there instead of MSRP.

I would honestly love to but since I am in school full time, and work full time on the weekends, it will be very hard.  Let me look into the dates and see what I can come up with.... I seriously woud love to do it.

dude!  do it... get like a case (or three) of 2-3 different common weights of oil, random supply of filters (i.e. Mk1/2/3/4/5 panel filters), and a ton of order forms... I bet you'd make a killing, assuming the overhead doesn't kill you

Honestly, my thoughts are I would take a ZERO start up weight ANY DAY over anything else.  Start up when your wear takes place and basically your oil CAN NEVER BE TOO THIN at startup.  I don't care where you live. (Amsoil does not make a ZERO 40, but the 5w40 would be better IMHO)

But for 10w40
https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/amo.aspx
$6.60 quart
$75.30 case
$25.95 gallon
$98.80 for a 4 gallon case
$63.80 2.5 gallon
$121.50 for 2 of the 2.5's

BTW... Here is a GREAT read about oil:
http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=136052

Here is a little about the author, I won't paste the rest because it is very long, grab a cup of coffee before starting:
Quote
About the author:
Dr. Haas is a physician and surgeon. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in biochemistry with honors. He studied motor oils since high school where he did independent studies on this topic. He studied the properties of viscosity.

When he was a general surgery resident in Chapel Hill he studied the flow mechanics of human blood. Today he continues his research by discussion of oil products with chemists in the field and chemists from the oil manufacturers.

He has personal racing experience in Formula Super Vee. He is his own Lamborghini and Ferrari as well as Mercedes mechanic.

I'm weary of anything with a weight lower than 10w-40... especially on an older engine that was spec'd by VW to run on 10w-40, 15w-40, or 20w-50... I know "w" is for winter (i.e. flowing viscosity at temp at -X degrees) and the 2nd is the viscosity at 100*c... but I'm open to a better explanation/suggestion

edit...
what I find interesting... the Mk1 and early Mk2, the Amsoil website lists 20w oil... searching for a '93 VW Fox (essentially the Dasher's new engine, a Mk2 engine with different oil pump) and it comes up Euroweight 5w-40?? hmmmm

edit #2
what is really messed up...
1987 Golf/Jetta/GTI 1.8 8v lists 20w oil, 1987 Fox (exact same 8v engine) lists 5w-40 ???

The first number on an oil's weight is the startup weight.  The 2nd number is the weight of the oil once it is up to operating temperature.  So a 5w40, is a 5w oil at startup, and once it has warmed up it will be a 40 weight.  A 10w40 is a 10 weight at startup and a 40 weight once it has warmed up, 0w40 etc, etc.  So it doesn't matter if an oil is 5w40, 10w40, or 0w40, once they are up to operating temperature they are all the same weight.

I guess thats a backwards (but yet the same) description of what "w" stands for, I'm used to it being a winter (w for Winter, i.e. cold temp) rating

Normally I'd be afraid of startup oil pressure and wear, but I guess, in honesty the engine can flow lubricant to bearings that much easier on a cold engine startup.... hmmmm

Take the time to read that article from Ferrari chat I posted up, it is well worth it.  It is not just some rich guy that owns a Ferrari making assumptions.  He has the degrees to back it up and he does a great job of breaking it all down.  Seriously one of the best reads I have seen on the internet.

alright mile high, i'll get back to you in a few days, let me know when the oil filters are available. ~$80 an oil change is steep, but i'd rather have it done right.

I am about to be away from the world for about 7 days starting tomorrow night (Friday).  Rafting trip... floating on some water drinking beers, soaking in the sun.   Call me 970-310-0779 if you want to order.  The filters will be available in a couple days.  By the time your order processes it should be no delay.

You can run a good oil longer than a regular oil.  I run 15k mile oil changes, My stepfather had 18k miles on his last change and his oil had OVER 50% of its life left.  My 2001 Taurus with 150k miles ran 17k miles (1 year) and the oil looked great.  I have had them all tested... somewhat addicting.
