So I am thinking my 944 would be the perfect
base to make a SCCA car.

Any thoughts on this.. good idea? bad idea?

944's make great track cars, they have perfect weight distribution. They're usually pretty competitive.

How many different cars are you going to build before you actually get out there and do it?  :P

Ahem... If jenn trusted me to take her car to race every other week
I would.. but it is her jetta. the 89 is not even close to track ready.
The porsche has no plans as of yet so I am seriously considering
doing this. I am also talking with some Rennlisters about how to
go about it. So I am serious you see...

But realisticly I would not be able to start racing it until next season.. ie build it over this winter.

another thing, 944 parts are cheap, compared to say 911 parts, which combined with the obvious handling characteristic s a very good candidate to race.

I know.. I was tired and grumpy when I posted that.. plus a couple of responses from rennlist prior to reading yours:

I believe you will get creamed in whatever class you choose, but anyway I would suggest that you try stock first, see how you like it for a year. Talk to fellow competitors about SP and see wha's involved. There is a lot you can do, but the miatas can do it better!

I agree with timo. EVERY class in SCCA is competitive and only gets more competitive the further up you go. The one thing that will lower your times more than anything is driver skill.

So you see I was a bit on edge about this.

luckily there are a couple of guys from rennlist in colorado interested in helping me out.

There is either a 944 or a 924 (I forget) running this season... bring your ass out to DIA on Saturday and chat with him!
