why are you spending $2K to remove a tree?
?
I cut one down at my house for um.... free....
Do you really care that much about a stump being there? It is a nice place to put a bird feeder, or weather vain in...
There are a few reasons and trust me, we tried to get around it...
1) it is about 50-60 feet tall or so with HUGE branches that extend to probably an equal distance as it is tall - in the last wind storm a couple VERY BIG branches fell into our neighbors yard - she happens to be 80 years old and happened to be outside
2) the roots are destroying our pipes
3) it's a disgusting Cottonwood that we are a) allergic to b) makes a huge mess and c) spreads like a mofo
4) the branches extend over our garage, over power lines and over the neighbors fence and shed - if something goes wrong while we attempt to cut it down on our own we are totally screwed.
5) big sections towards the top are dead so the limbs are in danger of falling
6) it is against the retaining wall that we share with the neighbor - it's already been replaced once from the stupid tree destroying it
Even Cox (who is normally up for anything lol) didn't suggest doing it on our own - I don't need something huge to fall on any of the structures underneath it.
And no, I don't want the stupid ass stump there - I want to pull out as much as possible to stop the roots from damaging the pipes.
We got several estimates, some of which were well over $2,000. Oh, and I don't want a bird feeder because I don't want birds to congregate there for our cat to catch and bring to me.
If you think you could come up with a plan to remove it safely and then we could just have someone come do the stump, by all means, come check it out.
