I know it's a 16 incher.

Width, offset, model, etc?

16, are you sure?  Looks like an early Porsche 911 or 912 wheel.

If it is a 16, it might be a spare or a winter wheel from a late 70s early 80s Porsche.  Most of the later spares I have seen were black and had collapsible tires on them.

On width and offset, I would guess 5.5 or 6" wide and offset around 50mm.

Hmm.  66-67 Bugs had a similar style hubcap lip, but were 15s.  Maybe a early 60s Bus?  Do you know what the bolt pattern is?

I agree with Greg on this one. I don't think 356's ever came with a 16" wheel. Or perhaps they are an aftermarket +1 wheel made for early model Porsches (356, 901, 912, 914)?

Who said it's off of a 356?  Not me..

I'm thinking it's a "chromed" (not polished) 911 space saver spare rim with an old school hubcap.  Anyone want to buy stock in that?

No, I don't think so.  It is way too wide to be a spacesaver spare.  356 came with 16s I am pretty sure, but it was really, really early and therefore 4x130, not 5x130.

I bet it is a chrome repro wheel.

I know you didn't say it was off a 356, I was ruling that out "out loud". If they were 5x130, which I think some were, it could be a 356C bolt pattern, Greg. Even so, I think 356C's only ever came with a 15" wheel max.

So, I'm still guessing this is an aftermarket wheel.

From the looks of the pics, that is what it looks like for sure.

Yeah, a 356C is 5x130, but they only came with 15s - my point being 16s were like split windshield, 2 piece engine case aged stuff, so they couldn't be that, because anything that old would be 4x130.

Seriously, or are you pulling a Nappy because you read it somewhere?

You don't think BBS has made wheels for Porsche before?

I will throw some more fuel into the fire.

a.  Why would they chrome a space saver spare?

b.  I think steel wheels for Porsche were made by Lemmerz (sp?)

Maybe somebody wanted a 16" wheel for their 356/901/912. And yes, some 356 wheels were made by Lemmerz.
