Okay, apparently there was some sort of miscommunicati on there... I wasn't referring to having a "garage sale" at DATR. I was referring to this particular sale "to kick off the upcoming summer season."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this IS an attempt to raise money FOR DATR, right? Well, not everyone can donate stuff to take a total loss for it. Therefore, the "organizers" of DATR could allow people to come and sell their stuff alongside the donated stuff. For someone to do this, they would have to pay a fee for the publicity (i.e. the $35 mentioned before).
*** For the people that STILL don't understand ***
Most of you know that Jenn and I have been selected to transfer to Hawaii later this year. Obviously, we are NOT going to be able to take everything along because of the size of place we are going to get (we did find a 1500sf townhouse for ONLY $2100/mo, )... A lot of the stuff that we are going to have to part with are rather large items that we cannot simply donate, i.e. a sofa, a sectional sofa, a love seat, a rather large oak desk, a 44 gal pentagon fish tank, etc, etc. Due to the amount of money we have invested in some of these particular items, we cannot simply just donate them.
This garage sale would be an ideal opportunity to rid ourselves of a lot of stuff..
Oh yeah, if you think that $35 isn't enough, then make it a certain percentage of all sales.... say 10% of all sales go to DATR.
