So do we have welders in the house?

So I was driving home today, and my GHL exhaust decided to come apart - so after getting the car home, I see that the bracket holding the piping together is still there but the piping came apart.

So after jacking up the car moving the bracket out of the way and trying slip the piping back together - I'm here typing up my fustrations.  I figure once I can get everything back together I will need some one to tack weld a linkage piece or run a bead around that area so this dosen't happen again.

I had this happen to my truch when we put on an aftermarket exhaust, and it has been hold ing up well with a linkage piece.

HELP

I can pay in beer, would rather do that than take it somewhere

i think you're saying that the pipe slipped out of the other pipe which from what i've heard about ghl exhaust is pretty common.  you really need to torque the shit out of your clamps.  i'd try that first.  and i wouldn't run a bead around the joint (if you decide that its needs to be welded) but weld it in two or three spots.  that way if you ever decided to remove the exhaust its isn't a pain in the ass.  i have a 2 1/2" ghl turbo back on my jetta and it need adjusting every once in a while.  hope this helps.

Thanks - I got it put back together last night, with a little help from a rubber mallet and a buddy.  I need to push it in about another 1/4" or less but it's on for now, I'm gonna pull it off the hangers in the back loosen that clamp and see if I can get the rest of it to slide in.

Thanks for your help
