Ok, bam, here is what i want to do.

H&R Coilovers

then, in a stroke of genius:

Bam  18x8 RS4 DTM reps:

Wrapped in Avon Tech M550 A/S

If i do this, i am going to need your guys' help.  I've never done any wrenching on the audi, i also dont have the neccesary tools.  SO, if i pick up the coilovers, i'll need to bum someone to pretty much install them while i ask a lot of annoying questions and hold some heavy shit up while u do the wrenching.  Seriously, i'll do my best to do the majority of the work, but i'll need guidance and your driveway and tools.

I'll of course provide drinks of choice and food of choice, as well as my gratitude.

The nice thing about this, is it gets me the lowered look and performance benefits, and new wheels that i really rather like that arent off the charts expensive.  Its kind of amazing even though they're basically the same style as mine, i like the look way way more than the reg rs4 replicas.

Oh, plus and eric gets to benefit from me buying wheels from the bastard ;-), so im also supporting the cos scene.

Does someone have eric's number so i can harass him about the wheels?

so you are going to use these as winter wheels?  Why not just buy snow tires for your current wheels and then buy these and wait till summer to throw some tires on em?  18" snow tires are gonna be killer expensive.  Plus you want a skinny tire for winter time... goes better thru the snow.

Im down to help w/ the coilovers... Never done an s4 but Im sure cox can guide us if we get stuck.

do those h&r's have rebound/compression adj.?

if not........... ..

the front is a lil bit difficult..... .....but not hard. the rear is soooooooooo easy. allow for a good day but will prolly only take 4-5 hours. at least that is how long it took me.

rs4 dtm's are a good choice

I don't believe that the H&R's have an adjustment.

Nice choice of wheels

Well right now they're *potential* winter wheels.  Later on down the road i might look into some 19's for summer tires.  For right now i'm gonna wrap them with High Perf All Seasons.  My Toyo Proxes 4 did great last winter, and the tires im lookin at are supposed to be even better for snow and ice.  Right now im already at a 17x8 so the tire cost is marginal, about 15 a tire to go to 18's.  Either way im stuck with a 225 so width is a moot point.

Plus, i just want some new wheels is all and i stumbled on these DTM's and i really really like the look.

Here is a link on the coilovers:

http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/suspension.jsp?&make=H%26R&model=Coil-Over+Suspension+Kit&group=Coil-Over+Suspension+Kit&autoMake=Audi&autoModel=S4+Sedan&autoYear=2001&autoModClar=&partNum=29471.1&perfCode=S

Its also not the club sports, its the regular kit, which seems perfectly suited to my needs (better ride height, non worn out springs/shocks)

just keep the ones you got for winter man... its so crazy to spend $ on new wheels that you are gonna use for winter, especially if you are tired of the ones you have on your car.  Get the snow tires for this set, and then get a pimp ass set of wheels in the summer.  From the way you describe it thats your plan anyways, but why spend $ on 2 sets of wheels? See what I mean?
Get the coils, dump your car, and just pop for the tires for the snow time now.  Take the rest of the dough, hold on to it till summer and get a pimp set of wheels.

Well, I debated that, but the cost difference is really only the new wheels cost minus what i can sell my current wheels for, which i figure should be 350 to 400 given their current condition.

The other issue is that i think its gonna look lame lowered with 17's 225/45/17 tires.

We'll see though, ive still got some time left to has it over.

Its not going to look lame, you got to remember, its winter status.  If you want your car to look good all the time, take a grand and find a winter beater.  I rolled my old Jetta dumped on 15's w/ hubcaps for the winter back when i only had one car!
Seriously, save yourself the 3 or 4 hundy.  Dont just talk yourself into new wheels because thats all you want to see... patience man... patience.

The other thing i am considering is that i may not be in a financial position in 6 months to buy new wheels, and i really dont wanna be stuck with the ones i have. So, im thinking do it while i can ya know?   But I'll still consider it, i mean my wheels arent terrible looking their pretty similar to those DTMs, but damn a single tear rolled down my cheek when i saw those dtm's replicas.  I love the somewhat machined look and the way it flows into the center like that.

save the dough for now and if you aren't in the financial position later you can always sell the wheels you got now to help soak up the cost of 18's.  Seriously though, if you are gonna buy new wheels dont buy them for winter time, use what you got.
You can use that 400 towards a chip or exhaust too.

If you have 17's nw, check tis out...

Finally, I've got five 225/45-17 Michelin Pilot Alpin 1s just
sitting in my basement. Used (or should I say pre-ridden on?), $250.
Email me if you are interested and I'll dig up the remaining tread
depths, etc.

Carlos is right Lance.  Roll on the 17's.  It won't look bad at all.  Wait until spring when the roads aren't eating wheels to purchase a sick set.
