that you will see from me.

So. I've narrowed it down to 2 options with a preface; i dont want to keep my current wheels.  There is nothing wrong with them per se, but it annoys me seeing them on the car every time i look at it, so they are going away.

In either option they will be wrapped with 225/40/18 Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S tires.

So, option A i am labeling the "more economic, but less cool" option.
It would come out to about ~$1100 shipped. The enkei is a cast wheel, probably pretty cheap, i imagine the finish would be ok for several years.

That option is this wheel:

Option B is labeled the "less economic, but cooler, less poseur" option.
It would come out to about ~$2100 shipped. The AT Italia is *appears* to be a good quality 2 piece, forged rim, cast center wheel.  I also imagine the finish would stay good for several years.

That option is this wheel:

Given ONLY those two options, which route would you guys take. (Nick feel free to fly off the handle ;-))

I need to buy tires, ASAP, it was like being in a fucking skating rink last night. I'm not spending money on 17" tires that im going to end up replacing 6 months later when *summer* rolls around and i buy 18" wheels and then have to get new tires anyways, then im forced into selling the wheels with the tires on them, which makes things a pain in the ass because some people may not want that tire, and if they do i end up taking a nice fat loss on it.  Thats a big throw of money in the drain.  Even if i buy nicks KDW's for 350 or whatever, thats still 350 i could put towards the tires i want, on the wheels i want.

I'm really not comfortable buying used wheels unless i can see them in person.  Maybe im just anal like that but the thought of sending someone thats not even a registered business that i can hold accountable, money for wheels that i havent even seen is not very comforting, and is something i have no intention of doing

Moving along, i've seriously contemplated saving up for those dream wheels, (RS-GT's, etc).  And i've come to the conclusion that unless i happen to stumble on a 60k a year job, i will never be able to realistically justify that kind of an expenditure on something that is 70% aesthetic.  I am not arguing that those wheels may not be worth 900 or 1100 or whatever a wheel, of all people i admire quality engineering.  But they're simply not and never will be worth that much to me.  So that options out of the window.

The wheels above are reasonable alternatives that allow me to change the look of my car to suit my taste, as well as getting me some tires so i dont crash into a pole this winter.

I too recommend used tires for the interim - check out Performance Wheel & Tire up here in Denver too.

Look at it this way: get a set of dedicated 17" snow tires for the wheels you have now. Buy a set of dedicated summer tires for your 18s, and switch out your wheels when winter rolls back around.

If you use Paypal to pay for a set of used wheels you do have a certain degree of protection if the deal were to somehow go bad.

If you find a set of used wheels you like have the seller send you about a hundred pics of the wheels from every angle possible etc..

Personally I would not drop $2100 on those AT wheels when I could have a much cooler set of used wheels for the same if not less amount of money.

Yeah, your stock wheels look way better than both of those options.  Besides you should be getting some tires that will do well in the winter now and then get some 18s or better yet 19s later with some good summer tires.

Is your car lowered already?  Don't be that guy with cheap ghetto wheels on a non lowered car.  Lowered on stock wheels looks way better.

If they clear my brakes i'd be all over them.

Also, i have pretty much no intention of lowering my car, unless i can find some decent coilovers, I've already busted the shit out of the bottom of the front bumper before i got used to the ride height.  Plus an S4 is already 20mm lower than a stock A4, at least from what i've read, so it doesnt look bad, just could look better maybe 1" lower.

I did also not think of used tires, that may be an option, i'll ponder over everything you guys have said.

Ditch the new wheels idea, get some all season tires for now and get some coilovers first.  Your car is going to look uber gay with some blingy wheels at stock height.  If you have the money to spend on those wheels then you have the money to spend on some coilovers.  Besides you will get far more enjoyment out of driving your car with coilovers then you will with some crappy wheels that you will be worried about bending by running into a crub or a fent or something because you are rolling on tires that can't get traction in the snow.  I am not saying this to be a dick even though I am, but seriously it will look lame.  Good coilovers is probably the best money that can be spent on a car.  Night and day difference.  This should be step one especially considering stock S4 wheels look pretty good already.  Especially on a lowered car.  And if you are dead set against lowering it then just leave it stock, wheels and all.  It will look better and cost less in the long run.
