Do we have a set location and time that we are meeting and then leaving??
Is there somewhere we can stop in Alamosa to re-fuel and get ice and stuff like that??

Can we have alcohol where we are going to camp.

LOL... Chad, dude, we won't leave you behind... we already said all that stuff....  Location is prolly either souf side walmart or the safeway at the end of academy... Time is TBD based on when Cox and Boner get off work... prolly 6ish...

We aren't going through Alamosa I don't think, but I am sure we can stop for gas since you're brining the 8mpg truck.

Were a go. I got Friday off, I am checking the Rango to include air filter and oil change (scared to know when she had this done last).  We got groceries tonight along with some other supplies.

Is anyone planning on going earlier in the day?  Sounds like alot of us have Friday off, so just wondering if folks were thinking of going down early?

We will be getting ready to go tomorrow, just have to pick up some food items and pack a few things.

If Carlos can give a general idea of how far he is going in on the pass or give a generalize stopping point on a map some of might be able to head down earlier to secure a spot or two (open camping areas).

If we can figure out how many people are going (# of tents), that will give a general idea of how much space will be needed.

This sounds like it going to be a large group.

Inputs anyone?

If you guys want to go earlier we can meet up w/ you on the pass, however I sat w/ cox tonight and we thought since everyone will be together we can just get a camp site that looks good when we see it.
The book I have lists a campsite about 12 miles into the trail.  The first water crossing is at 10.8.  Thats where I was thinking would be a good spot to aim for.

Here is a list of who I know is going so far...
Myself and Lindsey (4runner) (1 tent)
Brandon and Sara (lindsey's tacoma) (1 tent)
Cox, holly and boner (cox's frontier) ( 2 tents)
Nickle (cherokee) sleeping in vehicle
Swank and Barb (durango) (1 tent)
Chad and Kelly (Disco) 1 tent
LPshade and wife (chevy) 1 tent
Possibly a coworker of chris' w/ sp...

Thats 14 confirmed and poss 2 more and 7 or 8 tents.

Wow this will be the biggest group in 719 to go yet!

Here are the directions that I plan to take to get there....
Hwy 115 South from the springs to hwy 67 south in florence.
Then 67 till it meets w/ 96 at wetmore, head west to westcliffe.
Then take 69 south till CR559 (medano trail).

Westcliffe is about 1.5 hrs, so it should take about 2hrs to get to the pass and then an hour in to a site.

Looks like cox wont be able to get off work till about 6:30, so I plan to roll by 7... If you guys want to roll sooner thats fine, we can meet up, however I just didn't want a diff group to go a diff way.  However I still think its best to all go together.  Sure setting up in dark wont be all that fun but w/ as many cars that are going and the amount of lights we have we will be fine to set up in dark.

Also for those worried about taking their trucks... here is a report from the trail...
http://www.4x4trails.net/db_view_trail.php?trailNum=92

Also reports from colorado4x4.or g say that the water crossings were only about a foot deep in late july... so it sounds like it should be fine for us.

And here is a link to the current water conditions of medano creek...

Who's Sara?  Oh... you guys are talking about Sarah.  Gotcha.  :P

I will be bringing an OLD tent for a change and will be sleeping on the ground as a result.  Count me for a tent... maybe.

Just talked with Luke and Eric at Pikes Peak Rovers. Trail is fine water not deep right now. Took the Rover in for full fluids change yesterday and they found a pinehole leak in my radiator, hope I'll be okay. Looking at around $1,000 to put a new one in. I think I can find for around $300 and then would need help putting in.
Yes the gas filter is inside the tank, but Land Rover told me not to mess with it they are designed to self clean and do not need to be replaced.
Gettin excited, one more day.

JB weld is your friend.  BTW I will be bringing some JB, extra oil and some tools.

Carlos can you copy and paste the trail report.  I am under the nazi filter here at work.  It comes up as blocked "hobbies"

One of my all-time favorite tires.  If I do sell the XJ and pursue the vehicle I want, those are the tires I'd rock.  A true only, but a goody.

Tea will solve it! :)  Chris is drinking some right now for his throat.  Why can't Brandon still go?

Both of my girls have sore throats too, so far I don't suspect strep, but now that school is back in session it can happen at anytime.
