Hell yeah, VW really hit the mark with this one in the styling department

I'm sure the car is still going to sell just fine to the folks that see cars as transportation from point A to point B.

I am curious to see how the new Jetta catches on in the enthusiast world.

The new Jetta!!!!!! I think it is rather drab and ugly! The Volkswagen has always been to the left and right of the norm which is what kept it sooooooo very different from the Asian cars... I think the designers at VW have finally given up on their unique styling and said "If we can't beat 'em, join 'em!!"  Just look at VWs compared to the Asian cars from the early 80s on! They were all different! You could see a Rabbit a mile away and know it is a VW! Hell, everybody is putting good technology into their cars now, but at least we use to be able to look distinguishing from the Ricers! LONG LIVE THE MK2s!

Tom(01 Blue Jetta 1.8T) told me that they had someone that was a long time VW Jetta owner drive the new Jetta 5 and he was highly disappointed, and Euro Tuner or some other magazine gave it horrible reviews too...

My computer has been working... I just think Adelphia sucks! So I rarley get on the computer, and if I do it is basically to shop and email friends out of town. The forums are cool, though... I like ya'll! Soon, I'll get some pics up on this thing! When the site got changed, my photos are lost in the shuffle!

My wife and I stopped by Team just to look at the interior and decided to take one for a spin on Friday. It is so much more refined then any other Jetta Ive driven. I've owned two new MKIII a 94 and a 96. The 94 was my first new car. The only reason we were interested in looking at one is for all the features you can get with the car now. I would not buy the 2.5 just because I feel its still under powered for a 3000lbs plus car. It drove nice and the 6 speed auto was very smooth. It had great passing power but it lacked off the line department. I will wait for the turbo.

Has anybody else heard that the new Passat is supposed to start at $35,000? That leaves a lot of market for the Jetta to make up.

Hey, the dealer where that pic was taken is right near me.  :o

And in reference to Mitch's comment about the power of the 2.5... at sea level, it rips pretty good. But I don't blame you for waiting on the FSI motor for altitude.

This certainly puts the VW Corrola in new light...consid ering I just experienced one of these side impacts with a "suv" height vehicle, it makes me very interested in the car for a daily driver.

I agree, I bet at sea level the 2.5 is way better, at idle you can barely hear the engine. They had the new Jetta on Motorweek last week also, they said VW engineers stated the 2.5 can make 200hp and 2.0T 250hp from the factor with out a problem. I guess US emissions kills that.

I don't think the rear looks like a Toyota but more like a BMW with the high trunk and short back window, the front on the other hand. You know what they say Opinions are like assholes, every one has one.  :-P
