My S4 Guys...need some help

I'm looking at a 2000 S4, 119,xxx miles.  The gentleman told me that he just put some rebuilt turbos on this bad boy.  I noticed at low speeds the turbos make a police siren niose.  This was happening immediatley pulling out of the lot, didn't even hit boost yet. What is this?  I know it's not good.  When I layed into the car, it seemed to perform quite nicely with no problems or strange noises...aside from the brakes it will need.

What's going on?!  Should I not buy it?

I would say no.. If the "rebuilt turbos" are allready makeing noise, better have the cash to replace them if/when you buy it.. they will crap out on you and arnt cheep to replace.

no no no.  rebuilt turbos are no good.  you do not spend thousands of bucks to pull the engine to put cheap ass rebuilt turbos.  depends on how cheap the car is but 119 thousand miles is alot.  i would steer clear of that car.

i would say street value is 12-14 tops.

dat my 2 cents

i was going to do that too.

So rebulit turbos are a no go.  The car is $16k.   No S4 for me then.

Oh....what makes them sound like sirens?   What causes that?

If you want the car, and everything else checks out.   Low ball him, then you have extra Casheesh for your K04's!!!

Beyond rebuilt turbos, THE 119,000 miles is where I'd say NO-

Those cars are built to drive the piss out of, and there always are

best bet, find one with lower miles

rebuilt both turbos?,... just look for other S4... if he just rebuild parts I would be worried about the other parts that broke before that.

I agree with whats stated here.  Rebuilt turbo usually = fucked up turbo, because most people are incompetent, and 9 times out of 10 its more money but justifiable less effort to buy new turbos.

Plus, the 112k miles.  I couldnt justify paying 16k for a car with that many miles.

Oh, and to answer your question, the siren noise can be indicative of bearing failure.
