Audi's have had large front overhangs for as long as I've known them (starting with the 1990 V8 Quattro). I always thought it was just part of driving the front wheels (think Saab 900s).  Is shifting the engine rearward and shortening the front overhang while keeping Torsen-Quattro just wishful thinking? We've seen them do it with the A3 and TT, but those are Haldex-Quattro. What technical change is happening now that this is suddenly possible? Is Audi moving from Torsen to Haldex in order to fix the weight distribution and packaging issues? Thoughts?
I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Can't really tell exactly what they are doing from reading that article.  I would guess if they are switching exclusively to Haldex it would be so that they can standardize the system with the VW line.  In the end I would guess that would be cheaper overall .. one system rather than two.

Hmm I didn't think of that -- that is a good thought.
