'nother wheel i was curious what you guys thought of.
« on: May 02, 2006, 05:07:35 PM »

Ok, found another wheel i really like.  Not too expensive either, and fairly light for an 18x8 (19.4lbs).  Same as before just getting opinions.

http://www.enkei.com/RacingSeriesSpecs/RPM2.html

It does come in 5x112 with a 35mm offset.

Do you guys think that would fit on a b5 s4 with 225/40/r18's?

Psshh, i would put SSR's on the S4 any day.  Really i dont care if its asian or not, they make good wheels.

Plus, $261 a wheel, thats hard to beat.

And you get what you pay for.

You're comparing SSR's to Enkei's..that's like comparing apples to oranges

if a ricer can name and/or reconize any aftermarket part on you car then it is no good :P  but im not gonna lie that is not a bad looking wheel. your def. doing better with your search ;-)

and you can find other decent wheels in the neighborhood of 260 per wheel

and yes the wheel would fit your car. perfectly

why not buy a good set of used wheels as opposed to spening that kinda money of shitty wheels?

Im on a 5X112 wheel search myself and just tonight i've seen about 200 sets of wheels cooler than an SSR's or Stinkies or blah blah. For less money.

Well, i'll be perfectly honest, there are a lot of companies out there and i dont really know which ones are worth their salt.

I cant really say enkei's are shit.  They do supply the Mclaren Formula 1 team with wheels, not to mention OE for a lot of nice vehicles, Evo 8 for example.

I don't like buying used items, especially wheels.  Those tend to be one of those things that people beat the piss out of.

Just FYI, these are the wheels i really really wish i could afford:

I also would love to have these:

I would have no problem buying used wheels, it is pretty easy to tell if the are jacked up. Enkie does supply F1 teams but thats a whole lot different than what you get at discount tire. I worked there after high school and we had wheels fresh out of the box that were not machined correctly. I spun  a wheel up on the balancer and it was 1.5oz's out of balance with out a tire. I think you would be better off getting something used but better its not like people try to hit crubs and finces

used wheels can be as good as new wheels.  if a new wheel is beat to shit it means you can see bends, curbage, etc.  most wheels are designed really tuff and if you buy them from fellow audi enthusiast im sure they will be well taken care of.

Jesus h christ on a pogo stick, those HRE wheels are like $1400 each.  That fuckin wheel better suck my cock, amongst other things if a set is 5400 dollars.

Ok, so, someone help me with some sights.  I would like to limit it to 300 or less per wheel, i want an 18x7.5 or 8, chrome or polished rim would be nice, other than that i'm open to designs.

Those would be sick to have just because.  I'm really not even sure why, but it'd be cool.

The Fikse's look awesome... except for the center cap.  Can that be replaced with a flush cap?

Strength.  Really its a non issue for street use, but if you're out on in the nitty gritty beating the piss out of it rallying, it supposedly makes a difference.  I mean if you think about it, spreading the energy from impact over a greater area of the wheel.  i'm not sure how much diff 4.3mm makes, but who knows eh (i'm not a mechanical engineer *wink*).

I know the strength increase from reducing your moment arm by fixturing a wheel further from the center, but I was wondering why, or in better words, what motivated Subaru to change the patterns.  The answer: they are destroying wheels or hubs by fixturing too close to the center.  I figured that is the case, but I was pretty sure you knew the answer whereas I would have been guessing.  Sure enough, you did know it.  Thanks Lance.  ;-)

looking on line for Oettinger/Abt wheels is only mildly frustrating, try- just try to find a listed price.
Would love to fit 3 piece Oettinger wheels to the S4, but $$$$$??????

The phrase "if you have to ask, you cant afford em" comes to mind.
Hate that.

They even come with 5 or 6 different bolt patterns in case you want to run them on your Cavalier a couple days out of the week.

i know of a guy in denver selling some brand new 18" RS4 DTM style wheels by hartmann.  he is asking 1,100 for 5 wheels.  i think the RS4 reps look awesome.

he is also selling 17" BBS RC's w/o tires for 600 and w/ tires for 700.
