Dude, most of these guys race nationally... they have 8 foot trailers PACKED with spares. Most had work benches, generators, more tools than I use on a real car and like 15-20 sets of wheels... un-frickin' real!

See.  You tried talking me into competing.  Yeah right.  I'd get assraped even if my car was performing well.  

If I were even going to get started, i would need something like this:

They even had a pit guy with fuel, and a laser thermomter to check motor temp... apparently anything over about 235 was bad.

Was it 325, or 235?  I have been told that 325 is the temperature threshold.  You try and tune for temps below that.

I use an onboard thermocouple that will record peak temperature.  It was a very good purchase.
