Hey, once the weather gets a little better, would anyone like to go on a little 719 golf outing?  If interested, let me know and maybe we can organize something for May cause I def want to hit up the links.  If May won't work, then maybe we can do it sometime in August...

I'll caddy.  I had golf, but I really like caddying.  I had to decline a scholarship for it even.

Hmmm...I would call it a hobby.  I used to be alright...I haven't played golf since I had my 2 shoulder surgeries so who knows how I'll do!

Hey, I would be down for this, I havent played for about 2 years and have been wanting to get out there and show off my hacking skills.  The most golf I do is hit the plastic balls against my front door.

Let there be NO doubt that golf is most certainly a sport. It is not a sport for me however (primarily because I SUCK at it!) but it is without question a sport that takes skills, talent, and practice just like every other sport out there. Hell Golf is light years harder than curling and that made it into the olympics for God sake!

I will however qualify the above remarks by saying, it is only a sport if you walk... using a cart automatically makes it a hobby.

He was asking to assess his skill level.

And, have you ever tried curling?  Obviously not.

I am not discounting curling, and I like to watch it on TV but, in my opinion, golf is just as hard if not harder (simply because there is more physical exertion) and gets dissed by almost the entire planet!

I would be down. I have to drive down from Denver but do like to play.
I was on the golf team in high school. I play ok but by no means am I really good. I shot a 109 in vegas last october.. of course it was windy as hell and I had not played in a couple of years so it was expected.

There were 2.. both on the first hole.
Why is it you can hit a bucket of balls, nail your driver down..then
when you hit the first tee.. you knock it 2 miles east of cleveland?
I have never gotten over the first tee jitters.

Downhill longboarding takes skill, talent, and practice, and like golf, there are national and multinational competitions, but it's NOT a sport.  It's a hobby.

You think so?  I bet we could do nine on our best behavior, but 18's going to be hard.  ;-)

I used to work at a golf course.  I spend three years sucking up to people who were not any wealthier then my family, but because I was working for them, treated me like I was nothing.  (Not all, but enough to leave an impression.)  Golf is the trend for the wealthy, or those who just think they are.

Glad to see there is some interest!!  You all want to plan this on a weekend or weekday?  Also, what course do you want to play?  I'm sure that I can get you onto the Academy course if you want to come out here...

Is a military ID required to play the Academy or even access the base?

The Ft. Carson course is pretty nice and the golf carts are all GPS enabled... just need a Government (state or federal) issued photo ID, current plates and proof of insurance.

Does a government contractor badge with your photo on it count?   :P

Does anyone kow the prices for Ft. Carson or USAFA, I think playing off bae is quite expensive.  I know the course over by Best Buy (off of Powers) is about 50 a round.  More than I'm willing to spend, just to show off my hacking skills.

When I played down in Tucson, the base was anywhere from 16 - 25 bucks based upon rank (I think that included a cart), since it is somewhat of a hobby, having a cart is the way to go for me anyways.

And where are the damn driving ranges around here, besides the bases?
