Topic: AUDI / VW G2G & CRUISE (Tentative: Sunday, June 4th, 200 (Read 767 times)

Been wanting to get together to drive up Pike's Peak near Colorado Springs, CO. Decided to do it later this season when the pass opens to take some videos, pictures, and meet some fellow enthusiasts.

WHEN: June 4th, 2006 (First Sunday in June)

WHERE: Top of Pike's Peak!!! Looking for a good initial meeting place for some initial pics and then cruising down I-25 to the exit heading towards Pikes Peak for a BBQ and more pics, unless we do lunch in the parking lot before the cruise.

COST: I called Pike's Peak (tours) and asked about a group discount. The original price is $10 per adult, or max of $35 per car. Our discount will be $7 per person - each person(car) has to stop and pay - sorry!

WHAT TO BRING: $7, Food for grill? drinks? (note: it takes half as many beers to get crunk at 14k ft... be careful, bring DD...), and your CAR!

As you can assume, ALL AUDIS, old and new, fast and slow, are welcome. If you are VW enthusiast and want to join in the cruise, help find some VDUBs to cruise with, as currently there are 7 times as many Audis going.

As of NOW, there will be for sure 21 Audis, 4 VWs (I was a little late including other German autos...) and a couple of trucks to bring up a BBQ'r and food/drinks, etc.

I know seven bucks is a lot to ask... =) but over a month and a half? - We'll likely be staying up there for a few hours - until we run out of air to breathe. Specific meeting times will follow in the next few weeks.

INVITE EVERYBODY YOU KNOW (that drives vw= of course)! ~ IT WILL BE WORTH IT!

I will be in Fiji during this event and will miss it as a result. Where are all of the Audi's coming from? Is it just one club, a bunch of clubs, or what? Also, have you considered Mt. Evans? It's the highest paved road in north America. Pavement might be appealing to some of us.

I tried organizing a Mt Evans drive about 3 years ago.. a much better option in my opinion.

Anyway in true 719 style everyone decided not to go the night prior and the morning of the drive :mrgreen:

No doubt, pavement is the way to go - they will be paving the rest of the 'course' in due time... unsure of exact date. Most of the Audis are local to Colorado Springs, and fellow friends of mine that have converted. 10 of the Audis are family/friends. ('93 S4, '00 S4, '92 S4, '91 200, '92 100, '93 100 CS - all in same family... '91 200 x5!! '95 S6, '90 200, '91 Coupe Quattro, '01 S4, '00 A8 - all close friends. --> Just recently posted in forums, hoping to get some newer models to join andmeet up.

That is the same day as the exoctics show up in Denver, and the Junebug showin Golden. I posted the same thing on Audiworld too, but I hope you guys have fun.

The exoctic show is too cool to miss and Pikes Peak will still be there anytime.

If we do Evans, I'm bringing a longboard or two. Last time I was up there, I made it from the parking lot almost down to Echo Lake before it got too steep. What a rush.

D'OH !! - Just remembered a main event that usually occurs on Sunday... CHURCH - Any ideas where to meet up other than a church parking lot in the Springs? I was thinking something with the peak in the background. Discount Tire on Dublin and Academy is closed on Sunday - EXCELLENT view.. only not a gigantic parking lot...

ALSO - BBQ in the parking lot or on the mountain? Any suggestions?

Peak = Windy? Any experience with a BBQ on top of the peak? Plus - no need for food until around noon or so, how many will want to spend the next 4 hours driving and struggling to breathe where liquid water rarely exists?
