I've often wondered about this same thing myself. The best I've managed is to limit my smoking. I limit myself to 1 every 2hrs (since I deliver pizza, I would smoke one almost every order if I didn't set this limit) and I wait as long as possible before having my first smoke of the day. If I wake up late enough, sometimes I can make it to about 5pm. It's not quitting, but I figure if I consume as few as I can, that's at least better.
There are these pills you can get that will cause you to throw up if you smoke. That'll deter you pretty quick. On the downside, a side effect is nightmares. My friend took them and said he had the most evil, fucked up, scary nightmares he ever had in his life. He couldn't stress enough how bad they were, so you've been warned if you try that route.
I can do the same thing wait until later in the afternoon to smoke and I'm an early riser, but once I start for the day it's all down hill from there.
I have taken Ziban, but it didn't work for me. It did make me dream alot, no nightmares thanks goodness.
