Looks like it.

It's kind of interesting to watch as VW guys get older how they progress on to the more expensive German cars.

I'm just wondering why everyone who has an R-32 has a small rat dog.  Or is it that people with small rat dogs like the R-32?

I like nice cars but I'm not that wealthy, LOL.   But you are close with the BMW part.

If you get an M5 I will totally shoot you. Unless it's an older model. In fact, if you get any BMW made after 2002 (save the last M3), I think we should kick you out of the club on the grounds of having incredibly bad taste.

I'm not looking at anything newer than 2000 models.  I'm not that big of a baller.  Now...if I were Jimmy...I'd be looking at quitting my job and buying an '05 M5
 :P

So Josh..you would have a problem with me getting something along these lines?

**Disclaimer** I'm not buying a car anything like the one pictured above.  :P

Wow, I have new found respect for you!  Trust me you will never look back.  I sure haven't and I moved on to American with a desire for a Japanese car.  I like some of the better German cars still, but have little love for the dubs anymore.  If you are thinking of BMW my brother is a BMW master tech for the largest BMW dealership in America.  If you need to know anything about them I can ask.  I know they cost a shitload to repair and have more electronics than any other car make.  But he does like them for the most part.  He had to replace an M3 engine and BMW wouldn't cover it under warranty because the computer showed it was close to redline when it let go.  I think he said it cost the guy somewhere around $30,000.

Thanks for the info Justin...
And yeah I'm moving on, KINDA.  I'm still keeping my love for VW's but I'm not sure what the future holds for me in the VW World.  The R32 and Ole Blue will stay in the garage indefinitely.

I'm looking at either a 4 door E36 M3 or a '97ish - 2000ish 540i

Pat, everything prior to the current-gen BMW's is OK by me.

*The last-gen 3 Series was the last of the good-looking 3 Series.
*The last-gen 5 Series was the last of the good-looking 5 Series.
*The last-gen 7 Series was the last of the good-looking 7 Series.

Pretty much I just plain don't like the new BMW's, no matter how much horsepower they have - so I'll stand by my opinion of the new M5, Dan.

I don't mind the current generation 3 series...the rest just don't appeal to me styling wise.

I also did some Porsche shopping for a couple months and quickly came to the conclusion that what I would "want" is way out of my financial means.  I did think about a 928 for a while which is an easy buy..but I'm a little concerned that it would turn into a maintenance money pit.

As far as 928's go, they're relatively reliable - just ensure that all regular maintenance has been done and continue to do so. There are 928's out there with 200k+ miles on them with their original drivetrain. You just have to take care of them (especially the timing belt).

And by current generation 3 Series, you mean this one right?

390?  Why would it have a Ford engine?  I used to have a 67 Chevelle with a 396.  Is that what you meant.

And if I never wanted a Mercedes I would get a

BMW

Sorry, Audi comes in last for me except for VW which is at the way bottom.
