the neg camber "crap" is the coolst part about slamming a bug.

maybe watercooled's are your calling for a reason mike.   :P

nate please review all the pics I posted for coolness factor, note neg camber in every one.  If I ever build one it will be on it's nuts with as much neg camber as possible.  If i'm ever daily driving a bug than im a retard.  It's a univeral law of moddin cars, if you want daily driver comfort and aren't willing to sacrifice functionality and comfort for style you car is gonna look lame.

well i'm from a different school of thought.  never said you had to daily an aircooed but do at least drive it.  i'm more of a function over form kinda guy.  i personally laughed at all the lame aircooleds that were so slammed and cambered out that they couldn't even driven into a gas station drive way.  i'm sorry but scrapping over everything and having a shit ton of camber isn't cool by any means.

I have no problem with stupidlky stiff and bouncy rides, find it fun actually.  But I don't like the neg camber, just not my style.  Consider I've been daily driving a rabbit for the last year, beetles aren't much worse off minus the whole heater thing.  And I wouldn't be d.d. it either, but I will be driving it everyday the weather is nice and on weekends.  What is the point of building a car if you daon't plan on putting abot 5000 miles a year on it at the least?

I actually think its fun to drive a car that scrapes now and then, my 98 S-10 would scrape the frame on every damn speedbump on Ft. Carson.

Nate.. like it or not with the younger generation getting into Air Cooled cars.. draggin pan and negative camber is becoming pretty much common place these days.

If I were building a drag bug or something..the n sure I'd do the whole tranny raise, torsion raise in the rear..you name it because that would be a purpose built car.

I'll be perfectly honest and tell you right now I bought my Oval to make it a show piece .. and again I'm almost positive I'm going with Air bags which means I can "drive" my car without negative camber.. so get the fuck off the camber nutz already

What the fuck ever... you cannot keep your mind made up long enough to actually buy a single damn part!

When you start buying things.... no check that... when you start seriously building that car THEN I will believe whatever you think your plan is. At least until you realize just how much work. money it really is and you either sell it or go the easier/ cheaper way.

"the younger generation, draggin pans, camber" what the fuck grandpa?

The fact is people have been slamming shit to undrivable scrapage SINCE the 1950's.

Neg camber on the back of a beetle has nothing to do wtih the new generation.  Air Bags on the other hand, well....

you guys are all pussies.  :P  hehehe

go on with your function over form, and drive your cars up gold camp road and play with you schlongs and your air bag switches.

the cool cars will always be on their nuts scrapin and rubbin and fucking shit up.

ask Dave J how many times i fucked up the front end of my car on his driveway, sure I could have raised the car but that would be gay, I just designed a "quick release" system for my Euro chin spoiler.... hahahaha

every apartment and house i've ever lived in I had to first check the approach on the driveway before considering.

new generation pffft....

NEGRO PLEASE

First of all I have bought some stuff for the car and I have several deals to purchase other parts in the works.
Dunno WTF you're talking about?? I've got a plan that is currently being hindered by time and the lack of the exact parts that I need/want.  Other than that the car is moving along as planned.  For example: It's not like I can just pop on Vortex classifieds and pick up a pristine set of original correct Oval fenders...  AND Nappy.. you know that I am trying to buy a complete donor Oval for all the shit I need .. so put down the pipe already.

Let us not forget that the Army is sending me away for nearly two and a half months here in a week or so.. I'm not going to rip the car to pieces without a plan and all the parts I need on hand.

Money is not the issue here either fucknutz  :P  If I wanted to I've got the money in the bank right now to build the car from the ground up..hell I could pay to have it done if I wanted to but that's not the point... The point is that I have other bills to pay as well and I'm not on any type of time schedule to finish this car.. if it takes me 2 years I will perfectly fine with that.  There will be no easier or cheaper way executed on my car. Hence the reason that there is no rush to rip it to pieces  ;-)

Now.. STFU already  :P

LMAO!!!! Perfect... I have seen you sell too many cars to believe this one is "the one" so we will see just how far you actually get on it before this one gets sold too. Quit thinking of thos car as some big investment too... it is a car not an IRA.

In terms of car money I do consider it an investment because I have no doubt that I would get most if not all of my money back if I were to sell the car.  Remember I will be doing the majority of the work myself which is going to cut the costs substantially.

Either way I know it's not an investment but I consider any money I spend on that car money well spent.

i ran through a gang of Haji movies already.  I also watched an entire season of 24.  And while it's the most bullshit show I could imagine I couldn't wait to watch the next one.

This is pretty much prison with an internet connection.  I can go from my room to the SCIF which is right next door and that's it, or I stand outside on a 15x15 slab and smoke.  haha, fuck it's worse than prison.

i don't buy cars with the intent to mod them and hopefully make more money later on down the road.  i mod them for myself and my likes.  you should try that one day.

ok, with a modern car you are completely correct.

but with  CLASSIC car esspecially one from the 50's. people who buy those cars ussually look for the cleaniest, numbers matching, descretely modified (if any at all) but ussually as close to factory specs as possible will bring in more money than anything else.

so what pat says is 10,000% correct.
