Here's the bad  :(
I spun a rod bearing on my old motor, so I bought a head and block with 80k miles on it. I rebuilt the new motor with brand new parts and did the swap. So 2 days after the swap was complete I was driving it over to a friends house to work on it, and it just died when I shifted into 2nd. It didn't make any noises when it died :screwy:  , it just turned off. And I've attempted to start it a couple of times, but it just won't turn over. I'm thinking its just the starter to get the car running again but I just don't have the time to do it.

Everything else on this car is in excellent shape, newer clutch, tranny is in excellent shape, no problems what so ever. Interior is in awesome shape with the exception of the drivers left bolster shows a little wear, but nothing major. I can also include my old block and crank with the car if you want it. I really feel that all this car needs to run is a little time and a little money into it to get it running right again.

I'm looking to get $4000 for it or trade for a mk2 16V GTI or GLi, and if I can't get around that then I'll just end up keeping it and fixing the minor problems. Or best offer. Other Trades are also welcome.

If you have any questions just let me know.

Thanks,
Brett

So..

The engine won't turn over as in it is locked up?
The starter won't engage?
Or..it cranks but won't start?

I'm a bit confused because your starter clearly didn't make the car stop running.

Did you check the compression?

Its as if the car isn't grounding right. The volts just drop off when I turn the key and have jumper cables on it. The motor isn't locked up, and sometimes it just clicks when I turn it. It did start once, but immediately died. And no I haven't checked the compression

If your timing chain was off, your timing could be off which could be why its not starting again...  but you could have also fucked the valves...

It seems that the reason its not starting is because the battery isn't holding enough voltage necessary to start the car. The volts drop slowly on the volt gauge when I attempt to start it, then the battery slowly dies, and then it needs a jump.

Wouldn't that be a dead battery?

Ok..define "start"

Do you mean it wouldn't turn the engine over or the engine just wouldn't run?

Check the main positive wire connection that runs from the battery to the Starter...soun ds like might have a bad/loose connection at the starter.

same thing happened with the panel and it was a bad postive battery cable... it'll take you one trip to the store and 5 minutes and less than 6 bucks.. why not give it a shot

Could have done something serious again internal, as in, frozen crank.

Well if thats the case I guess you shouldn't be allowed to rebuild engines huh.

In fact, by rebuild do you mean you threw a bunch of new parts in it or did you actually measue all your bearing surfaces/cylinder bores for out of round and wear?  Did you actually plastigauge everything?  Did you check piston to sidewall clearence?  Or any of the other steps it takes to preperly rebuild an engine, noit counting any neccesary machine work?
