My next project...
« on: March 03, 2005, 01:35:59 PM »

My little conversation with Pat in another thread mademe think this should be a topic of its own. After this winter, I'm done with the 16v. After I take care of some personal stuff, I'm going to begin my next project.

This is the color its supposed to be, and I'm gonna keep it that way. The British Green was a pretty rare color. Its a convertible 427/390 muncie 4-speed. Should be some fun.

What the hell?

Do we have to make a "Muscle Car Mullet" forum now too?

On a more positve note I noticed that the car you posted above has the standard Scott M. Lovett gauge package.  Always a plus  :P

Sorry about the big pic. I'll resize it.

Hey, those gauges are FACTORY!

Don't worry, I'm not going to get rid of the VW, I'm just not gonna dump any more money in it. I started working on the Vette back in '94 but stopped when I went to college. A lot of what I've done will have to be REdone, but the majority of the remaining work is body and interior. And i'll just job that out b/c I SUCK at it.  :-(

Nice!  I used to want one of those.  What year is it?  That style was during the oil crunch.  That makes a huge difference in the perfomance of it.  Unless of course, you rebuild the engine with higher compression pistons or maybe twin turbos. :P  Glad to see it has the chrome bumpers on it.  I really like that style.

Come on now. Going from a 16V project to a 427 68 vette. Isn't that a bit of a stretch, and good luck finding one that is afordable.  And edition POS the oil crunch wasn't until the early 70's so this is a little before that. Try something a little more affordable unless you can dish out $15K for a SHAGGED 427 vette.

I am pretty sure Scott already owns the car he mentioned.  And going from a VW project to a Muscle Car or a Hot Rod or a Drift car or a whatever is just cool.  They are cars.  Working on them is cool.

I know when the fucking oil crunch was.  That body style went well beyond 68.  You also had to deal with rising insurance rates which decreased horsepower too.

P.S. Here is a '72, not much difference.  And low hp to boot.

Hey, that car is 8 times quicker than your GTI and it doesn't even need a big gay hood scoop.

Haha, you guys are too much!

I already own the car. Actually, it was a car my dad bought a long time ago to restore, then found he didn't have the time to even start it so I "acquired" it.

The C3 Vettes didn't get slow until about '72. Mine is rated at 390hp. TriPower was also an option that year (3 two's), which was rated at 435hp.

The car I have is BEAT looking, but I finished a lot of the mechanicals already. They'll have to be gone over, but nothing like the first time. The one in the huge pic at the top isn't my car. Its a pic of the car I have in a completed state (and the only one I could find in my car's original color).

I'm half torn between running it BONE STOCK (except lowered just a little with nice wheels) or replacing the stock dual point dizzy and Quardajunk with a TEC-3 setup just for a modern touch. Either way, I'm easily going to get way over 400whp out of it. The guy my dad bought it from had some minor engine work done to it, so she's ready to tear some serious ass. Just needs A LOT of body work! haha

Greg... that car you posted is my Dad's '63 fuelie. That car remains as pictured.

i think i would give up one of what ever i have two of (nuts, kidneys, eyes, lungs, etc) to have a 'beater' 427/4 speed vette.  that car is fucking awesome.
