I wasn't expecting it to be new but there looks like a lot of rust on it. Is there not? I know a few guys that have aircooleds that they are fixing (some of my dads friends) and understand it comes w/a  lot of work but it just scares me lookin at that thing LOL

There is no damaging rust on it at all, just surface rust from sitting for a while. There is one spot in the front of the car that has a hole, but that was caused by an accident not rust.

It is a very solid car!

as scott pointed out, a semaphore is a turn signal thats mounted in the b-pillar.  the pics of pat's car show the semaphores and fender mounted turn signals.  since semaphore cars never came with fender mounted turn signals those probably aren't the original fenders.  its pretty common to see something like that considering this car is almost 50 years old.  those turn signals will shave off just fine...

That's right Nate.. and since all 4 fenders are pretty much scrap metal anyway the signals are for sure going away.  I'm going to try and locate some OEM used fenders for it..but I'm already prepared to go with reproductions if need be.  

And yeah..it's going to take more than a grand to put make it a nice car.  Sure for a grand it could be made into a daily driver..but that's not what I bought the car for.

Carlos..the rust you see is surface rust..which really isn't much to worry about in the big scheme of things.
