Want To Borrow
« on: February 17, 2005, 04:16:40 PM »

Well since I'm a fuckin' mooch I thought I'd see who would let me borrow some stuff.  I looking to use someones mig welder and chop saw.  I'm going to be fabbing up a custom exhaust for my Tacoma.  Normally I would just go down to the auto shop on Ft. Carson but they have regs that prohibit  modifying oe exhaust/smog stuff.  I'll buy my own wire and abrasive disc and throw in a case of your favorite beer.  If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Nate

Edit:  Beer!

9 times out of ten they will look right past what you are doing as long as you do not draw attention to it... and I do not have either of those items...

You're right about that.  Only thing that really bugs be is that they charge $.75 per cut on their chop saw.  I'm the kind of guy that cuts something until it fits right.  When you start from nothing its hard to follow "measure twice and cut once".

Acutally this new exhaust will still maintain all the oe smog functions.  I will be swapping in a larger high-flow cat and I know there are some pretty strict regs concerning cat removal/modifications.

Yeah but it is not like you will have to show them a spec sheet to install a new cat... just fill your old one full of mud or something and tell them it is fukt...

as for the per cut charge... that is kinda gay...

I know that a chop saw would be the quickest option but what other options are there that might get you around some of the initial cuts? then you could use the chopper to get them precise when you are at that point...

No, chop saw is the only way to go.  Sorry, I got neither of those.  I should, though...

The law says you can't replace an undamaged catalytic converter. So, use something to poke a huge hole in your cat, then say that it happened while driving. Seriously, you have to be more creative with rules...
