Now that I've told you the car looks great (which it really does look nice)

Here's my critique:
Shave those bumper side markers already!!!!  It just doesn't look quite right will all the shaving and then having those still on the car.

Are you doing anything with the suspension?

Ya, going 4x4ing...

j/k Greg.

Hey, can you put up a list of all the stuff you had done while it was in the shop other than pull the driver's side out of the passenger's side?

Yeah, I spoke to Pat about it today when I picked it up.  Does $1,200 sound good for shaving both bumpers and vw symbol on the hatch?

***  To clarify, shaving front and rear rub strips.

That doesn't sound too bad price wise for all that work..>BUT  someone already sells OEM style bumpers for MK IV's with shaved rub strips.  Can't remember who makes or sells them but they are out there.  Might be worth looking into before you drop $1200 at the body shop.

Looking good Greg

Personally I would NOT shave the rubstrips on the bumpers.  Look at the car with the shaved bumper..it just doesn't look right to me.  That's just my opinion though.  Just have him fill the bumper side markers and call it a day.

Oh yeah..and remove that big ass emissions sticker from your windshield already.

I agree with not shaving the rubstrips... you will lose some of the "line" of the car... I personally am a fan of black rubstrips (textured) but they would not look right on your car...

looks great dude.  My only suggestion has already been posted, lose the sidemarkers and lower it about 4 feet.  Other than that you're well on the way to pimp status..

Yeah, don't lose the rubstrips just the side markers.  And lower it allready.  The Duke brothers car was lower than that and they jumped it.  Next on your list should be some new wheels.  Those are stock!  Tisk tisk.

I am going to keep the wheels for now.  I would like tou keep it looking a bit like a 337.  But I do have plans for wheels later on.  As for lowering it, the deal is working right now so we won't have to see her in "4 feet 3inch mode"

Do you guys think that if I removed the rear spoiler and emblem, that the rub strips would look out of place?  I am definately not done with the outside yet, don't worry everyone.

yeah lose the rear spoiler. I dont think the bumpers would look to bad if you just shaved the strips and didnt mold the valence. But yea, all one peice doesn't look right. kina alot of money tho, I like the chrome grille with the mirrors, never really seen anyone do it, matches the wheels good too.

you got airbags on that thing?  hit the switch and lower it then.. :)

here is my only advice, and take it for what it's worth cause im just some clown who thinks he knows how to make VW's look cool.  You are so far along dont stop short now.  For every stunna there are 15 cars that are just short of being show stoppers cause the owner did all the right shit only to fall short in the end.  All you need is some sicko wheels a lot of lowering and a few more of the personal touches that you got going already and bam you really got something.  Lots of people have "modded" Golfs and GTI's but fuck thoes guys, they lack the vision, style and talent to take it to the next level, you are already past that now don't fall short when you are sooo close to making something special.

I'm really excited for you, often what starts off as a bad thing turns out to be a blessing, you car has come a long way in no time, don't stop now cause if you do you might as well be the guy with the half ass modded GTI, and you and I both know that's gay.

Thanks London, I know exactly what you mean.  She is going back into the shop friday to correct some issues but I am ganna have Pat do some more stuff to it.  I wanna keep the wheels atleast for now for 2 reasons.  One, she is a 337 and I would like to keep her looking a bit like that and the RC's are kinda trade mark for the 337.  And two, I ain't got the cash to get wheels that will look good, I am sure I could find a set of wheels for cheap but BBS RC's ain't all that bad in the whole sceme on things.  I am leaning towards some Colorado Custom wheels but they ain't cheap.  And The guy that I am dealing with for the coilovers I was talking about earlier hasn't returned my emails since he refunded my money.  He said he is having some family issues and had to go out to Arkansas.  That was like a month ago but I don't want to give up on him yet cuz that is a bitchin deal for coilovers.

In my opinion, the correct ride height and wheels and tires make for 80% of making a car look hot.  You can do nothing but lower your car and put on the right wheels and it will turn heads all day.  Here is an example.

Don't mean to sound negative but sending your money back and saying he had family issues sounds like he found someone local who would pay him more.
