DO the flanges mount up?  It looks off, but probably just the angle.

no it bolts right up, the flange on the manifold is huge for some odd reason but the turbo still mounts up to it perfectly...

On a good note, i have all the old turbo crap out... i cant believe that little ass turbo in my car put out 260whp... CRAZY!!!

James, lemme know if you plan to sell the ko3, my Bro's wife's passat turbo blew seals out and they have been looking for one.

LMK.

When are you going to have pictures of the new turbo IN and everything running?  I do expect to see a video of the car running emailed to me as well.

Thanks.

Does your brother's passat have a 2.0t? FYI starting with the 2.0T vw started molding the exhaust housing with the exhaust manifold. I don't know if the center section will swap with a 1.8T though it might.

cant believe the stock turbo is so tiny.  it also makes me laugh when people talk about going big turbo on a 2.0 or 1.8 and only go to a k04.  those are still small as hell.  glad to see youre really going with a big turbo.  cant wait to see what you get out of it.  you upgrading your injectors as well?

ok, so everything is in... now i have to take it all back out.. lol... in need of a feed line.. and just an FYI, it ir rigoddamndicul ous to clock the turbo and install all the lines with the turbo in.. FML!!! hence why i got everything in minus the feed line and i tightened a couple bolts so it doesnt move then im pulling it out, torquing everything down where it needs to be then it all goes back in... hopefully for the last time.... Damn German engineering with their turbos in the back under the engine and their short ass oil and coolant lines and their lack of space for a GT3076R.... they should have made this car knowing people were gonna do this to them... anyways enough of my ranting... I NEED M8x40 Banjo female ends for feed line.. lmk if you have anything i can use... kinda tapped myself out buying all this shit...

I'll take more of everything in tomorrow...

damnit... I didnt even think of the differences and the fact all that shit is made together... what a dumb idea to save a gasket and some bolts.

You going with some RS4 FSI injectors?  I read they are good to like 480 whp

quick question for you, and not sure if its something youve thought about... is it a journal or ball bearing?  if its a journal, i would highly HIGHLY recommend running a feed restrictor.  you dont need one to run this turbo, though it will help greatly extend the life of the turbo (and avoid catastrophic failure like what i had (i was running no restrictor.)).  the reason for this being that while journal bearings like to get a decent amount of oil, the design of the seals cant always withstand that amount of pressure that your cramming into the bearing.

this is the piece that i am referring to.
http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=tp&Product_Code=ATP-OIL-022&Category_Code=ATP-OIL1

so far, atp is the only place ive found that sells them.  inside, there is a little piece that looks like a steel (im not sure what its made up) filter cartridge that will limit the pressure that your bearing will actually see.  just food for thought.

also, just curious, will your downpipe bolt right up to this turbo?  what about a wastegate tube?  you dont necessarily need to recirculate it back into the downpipe, but at least dumping it down out of the engine bay will be a very good idea.  and are you running a manual boost controller on it?  or just wastegate spring?  make sure you have all your vacuum stuff routed properly and that theres no leaks!

I would highly reccomend not taking advice from a guy who blew up his turbo project.

James... is the oil feed line held on with a hose clamp??

Barry, that's a dick thing to say. It was my first try at doing a turbo setup. I learned what I did wrong, and I'm trying to pass on my lessons so he doesn't blow shit up.

@ Barry, yeah i just put it on to see what kind of an angle i need to get the banjo in there, im going to whistler bearing tomorrow to get a line made....
@ Mike, its a journal bearing, but im gonna let it get the oil the block feeds out... if anything starts to leak (i.e. seals) then i'll toss in a restrictor...
@ Jeff, hmmm $20 for a flange is good, but what size is the hole for the DP? i looked and no size... im just gonna try to work with what i have for now and if i cant get it to work i'll get one made...
