Woes of Caddy ownership.... .
« on: February 18, 2011, 12:04:59 PM »

Well Odile got back not too long ago and still hasn't tried to start the caddy, she is scared of it.  The front driver tire was flat? So james1 put it on jack stands for now.  Since Ive been here I bought some goodies for it, some gauges, and this thing.

Next Im going to buy one of these.

Im ordering a Tial WG once work gets started in the shop putting the short runner on and converting it to EFI.

Ugh.... this thing just wants to suck money out of me.  Oh yeah, planning to re-do the dash with some custom ideas. Probably a cabby dash wrapped in something cool beans.

If anyone find a black mint cabby dash and any corrado red-dot back seats, I'll buy them from you. I need the material for my future door cards.

I understand Barry.  Its tough when real utility vehicles like Pickups are faster than your Mk2.

I'd probably blow the doors off both of your MK2's.

The one that Matt owns would win.  By the time June rolls around it will probably even walk the previous Ford you owned.

once im done with my fiberglass dash, you could have the black dash from the jetta, its pretty much the same thing as a cabby dash. all i have is the dash shell.

Probably? Maybe

The one Matt owns - that car is slow....

It already walked the Mustang... remember?  ::)

Anyways... I hope you get a solid 16V turbo build... I think caddys are cool, but the only way to make them comfortable for me is to extend the cab which is hideous. So naturally, I hate what I cant own

And yes... If all goes well on my end, the new jetta will still be MUCH quicker than any 16v with boost  ;)

I hope you have that lined up when I make it up there in September. I doubt I make the trip in the Caddy to MD, but crazier things have happened.

I only walked you rmustang because of the rain, we all know that... :D

I miss working on cars dude.

Polishing the header for the car now, and installing the BVH when the header is ready.... If I keep the wheels and suspension that are on the car, I should be able to scrape the dough up for the charger setup...

mounting brackets are probably going to have to be custom made....

f* yeah.  just get some cardboard to make a template.  I can also draw one up in 3-d if you get me a measurement and picture of a template.  You would be amazed at the things I can design with some software we have here. (Its on my personal computer also)  There is also a dude with AutoCAD as well.

No worries.  Both fronts were completely empty - they're aired up now and should be fine.

I actually had a Smart car try and race me when I was a few blocks from the shop.  Needless to say I wasted him for 1st and 2nd gears, then coasted in 3rd and he came shooting by.  Heh.  Caddy's just have that effect on people.

Hahaha I cant even imagine it with the short runner and EFI.  How does the short runner look anyway?  That T2 shifter is going to be going to Jeff's house I think... I already had his address loaded in paypal.

Let me know any of the parts and stuff you need, Im sure there will need to be some fuel line work.

You can post pictures up too if you like?  :D

Will do - it was late enough on Fri Nite, that I didn't even look in the boxes and stuff.  I'll post a build thread for ya.

It cut out a few times on the way home and didn't want to idle - not sure what that is, but since its all being changed, not too worried about it.

Sure, should be able to get started this week.  I'll at least give you a dedicated spot on the shelves for parts and go through stuff to see what we've got.

Sounds good.  I am here all day, every day this week and next (usually not here T-Thu from 11:00 on) so should be easier to find me.  Can always drop them at the house too if that's easier for you.

I believe so. I put it all in the bin, injectors, MSD box, programmer, wires and the other items you need. Right now the IAT sensor is in the intercooler tubing, it might need moved or just as easy to buy a new one.  LMK.  I'll get the paypal sent out.

hmm.... I want to keep a hot-rod look. I also want something a little comfy. I seen something in a hot rod magazine on a ratrod that was cool. It was punched aluminum on the door cards. Seems interesting, I was thinking that and doing the arm rests and a center section in the red-dot pattern from some recycles corrado seats.
