Woes of Fox ownership

Well, I went to move the Fox out of the driveway so the wife could park there last night.  Backed out, shifted from R to Drive, and nothing happened.  No movement in any gear, and Park doesn't park it.  SO....  I assume the trans is gone, or the torque converter.  I just checked the fluid recently, and it was full and clean.  Shifter assy could be to blame as well, but since I've got 95% of the manual swap stuff, I might as well throw it in. 

Engine swap will have to wait a bit - don't have the gasket set for the G60 yet.

Found out its not the trans - its still fine I am sure.  An outer CV joint broke.  All that power, I guess.

since I've got the clutch and other little bits coming, I might as well throw in the Quantum Turbo Diesel trans while I've got it up in the air...

Yep - Quantum Turbo Diesel 5 speed - 4.11 ring & pinion, with close(ish) 1-3, 4 medium, 5 tall.  Perfect for what I want.  Using an Audi Fox GTI pedal cluster setup and the Quantum shifter.  Lightened flywheel and stock clutch for now.

Oh yeah - and since the exhaust is one-piece welded together from PO, I might as well build a new mandrel bent one...

No turbo flange to start with - I'll just make it 2.5" to cope with the turbo a little later.  It'll sound better at least for now, if not any additional power...  I could always hook up the nitrous and see what the 1.6 can take.   :hammer:

Maybe I'll get one of those fake turbo-sound things to help the exhaust out.  That would work, right?

Well, converting a B1 from an automatic to a manual has apparently never been done.  Primarily because its a big fat pain in the ass. 

New custom trans mount, modified transmission tunnel, custom pedals, etc etc.  Not impossible at all, just seems a bit far fetched for a lowly B1.   ;D
