LOL at Carlos' piece it together comment
Mike... you have three options to consider.... four really.
1. Buy a motor at Pull and Pay and rebuild it to your liking. I have a junkyard VR that had good chains and bottom end in my garage now that has well over $1K wrapped up into it... It was built to VW spec, with the exception of ARP head studs.
2. Buy a used built motor and hope the guy building it knew what he was doing.
3. Buy a new, built longblock.... Hope you are getting a huge tax return.
4. Buy two motors at pull and pay.... put one back into your car now as it is, and get the car running right NA again, while you take your time, and waste a ton of paychecks building the second motor....
Any way, you are starting out back at step one, which sucks, but if you dont take any shortcuts, you should be good to go for a realiable, strong running VRT.
Good luck buddy! I know you're down in the dumps right now, but there's a light at the end of tunnel.
Good news is, now with your car out of commission, you can take the time to scrape that hideous tint off of your windows!
