Poof !

I'm back guys.  ;D

Yes I'm in Afghanistan.. Bagram.  Been here since Sept 10.  Pretty much sucks but the money is good so I'm not complaining.  Retired from the Army this past summer and went to work for as an FSR for UAV's.  I'll be leaving this crap hole real shortly.  Luckily I have a normal job back in the states with my company, we just do short rotations overseas.

I do periodically check on here but I don't really have much time left for a car hobby anymore.

Did you join the "kiddie" club like most of us did or does your work consume your life now? Glad to see you're out of the Army and life's going pretty good for you.

Yes in the kiddie club.
My last assignment in the Army (work), consumed my life so I had little time to play.

Shortly after getting out of the Army I took off to Afghanistan .. so it's been a busy past few years.

Holy shit.  How you doin?

Oh, and Cragar actually made a 13" version in 4x100 (coulda been a universal 4 lug too) and a 4 spoke.  Otherwise looked just like the 5 spokes posted above.    First time I saw them on a Rabbit I did a double take.  Only seen them a couple times ever, so likely didn't sell very well and pretty rare.

2 years.. you're a better man than me!
With my company we normally do a 3 month rotation.  Since I was going in to set up a new operation from the ground up they made my trip 4 months .. which turned into 5 months about halfway through.   I'm good for a while now  8)

i would love a civilian or contractor job in afghan for 2 years (or more).... come back no mortgage, student loans, car loans or any other debt....then after that i would work towards saving a mil+ for retirement and putting my kid through college.

Like this?

I thought it was a 14" and I found it at upap on a fox. Had it been a set I would have probably grabbed it for weirdness factor, but it was only the one.

...you say that now
to work for 2 years and pay off all of my debt.... only having to pay taxes, insurance, utilities and food. that would mean 95% of all the money my wife and i make would have our names on it, not someone else's. a sacrifice i think i could handle.

I know a lot of guys who've done it, are doing it, and will be doing it soon.  Its really all a matter of your mental fortitude, especially if you get put to work in or near hot zones.  The pay is fantastic, and the reality is you can go through 3-4 years of hell and as a result make the rest of your life much much easier and more relaxing.  But, the people who've gone won't bullshit you, it can be very tough.

Very true
It can be tough, especially when you're leaving family behind in the states.   Working for the right company can make or break the whole deal.   Luckily for me this is just a small part of my regular job so I'm not spending a year at a shot over here.
