Didn't realize there was a difference. On the plus side, the ad says the wp was done 12k mi ago.

Kinda considering this too: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4947020-For-Sale-(FS)-listings-Q3-2010/page12

Very high miles, especially in Rust Country, but it looks pretty solid. I'm not sure if I can live with 59hp, which I'm sure is more like 45hp on a 20yr old car. I know absolutely nothing about diesels though with my ~10mi roundtrip commute every day, I'm thinkin a tank of gas would last me like a month. Plus, veggie oil conversions are fairly popular around here.

Well... my brother paid $5500 for a Black Magic Pearl 2004 GLI with miltek exhaust, KW coilovers, OEM HIDs and OEM nav... so yeah... they are pretty cheap if you look

Wow, nice. Guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open. That was for the 1.8T version right? I've found the vr6's for that price easily enough.

Came across this car: http://albany.craigslist.org/cto/2037149194.html and it's very tempting but are parts $$$$ or unobtainum or does it have a lot in common with other bmws? Do the auto trannys hold out for awhile? The seller's DD died and he doesn't have the cajones to drive the bmw in the winter so it's possible I could trade him straight up for my car. With snows, I always thought bimmers were good snow cars with their fairly even balance, is this car any different? I asked him a ton of questions and am awaiting more photos so we'll see. Old 7-series seem very common in my area for some reason.
