« on: August 26, 2010, 02:53:39 PM »

Not sure anyone on here would want/need anything, but if you do, let me know!

Its an early 1966 car, rolled, engine tested very good.  Transmission gone, rest there.  Pics monday.

Don't even think about it.  Rabbit arches are the way to go Ed.  Cheaper, easier to find, and match the lines correctly.  911/912 arches would likely need 10s of hours of fitment, but you are welcome to check it out...

Ed, I held up cut-off Rabbit flares to the Dasher - they would be perfect.  Trust me.  Give you about 1-1.5" more width in the rear and look right.

I have hopes of putting the car into the shop for restoration in the next month or two....the thought of having "porche" flares sounded kewl

Sleeper implies that it's fast. I only know that it keeps up with traffic pretty good.

It was restored and then was being trailered to the owner, trailer disconnected - car came off trailer and rolled.  Bummer.

He should at least have receipts for the work. That would help.

receipts or not, most insurance companies require an inspection, photos and an appraisal to to valuate older restored cars over than 5k.

an insurance company won't ensure and older car at a stated value.... i know i had to do all of this to get the value of my truck raised from 5k to 15k even after i gave them copies of 10k in receipts.

Depends on the insurance company and the policy.  There is a handful of companies dealing with specialty vehicles now that are happy to insure on an agreed-upon value, appraised or not, just needs verified condition at start of policy, basically.

I'd imagine most of the normal policies from the big companies are just as Jimmy says.

yes... if you have a historic, or market valued car, you need to check with your insurance agent about "stated value" or "market value" policies...

I have a 93 Cobra, and a 92 GTI in my garage now. I know if something were to happen, I'd be fighting tooth and nail over the $4K and $1500 checks, respectively that the insurance company would be trying to cut for those cars....
