hey everyone,

I have the giant juniper bush in my front lawn that i have been trying to pull up, along with the roots of another one that also needs to be removed.

i ripped 3 of them out with a 3/4 ton 4x4 truck, but the last 2 wouldn't budge. it's not that the truck didn't have the power to pull it, it just didn't have the weight and traction to hook up to get them out. (it ended up digging divots in the asphalt) when that didn't work, it took over and hour to cut one of the 2 down, but by the end my poor electric chainsaws motor was burned up, and my gas one is over 10 years old and won't start.....

SO....

i was wondering if anyone has a truck that has a 3000lbs+ winch on it that wouldn't mind coming over to my house and ripping the 1 bush and the other root-ball out of the ground. Will only take about 30 minutes of your time, and i will buy you a 12pack of beer of your choice.

If I had a winch, I'd do it man. We could always try daisy-chaining 2 4x4 trucks together. Mines a 3/4T 4x4. Low range in both should do it - or break a lot of stuff.

all i got is a 2wd ranger with a 4 banger in it sorry cant help you out on this. i had to get a stump pulled in my back yard last year my neighbor brought home his bobcat bucket truck and ripped it right out.

with my luck it will be the latter... the truck in the middle would get ripped in half.....

I'd be willing to come try it. I can put my truck in 4lo and lock the rear. Get pretty decent traction with that option. Or both greg and I could yank it out with both our trucks

I only offered because he said traction was the issue. I have a rearlocker and 4lo, that should god steady. But the super duty should get the job done too.

dont get me wrong the powerstroke should do it.. but its not as good as many other vehicles.. i just picked this truck up off craigslist.. for 3k... it had an injection pump issue.. i had a friend send me one.. and it runs beautiful now.. its my daily for now.. because the roads here suck...wish it was a cummins..

The navistars in the Fords are nice engines, but they don't have the aftermarket support the cummins do which is their only downfall. Hell, the v10 tdi in the tourege blows the doors off of the cummins made around the same time just because the powerband is greater than 400rpm. I've had to pull loads with the various diesel engines Ford and Dodge have put into their 1 tons from the late 90s up till the 2007 model year and I'll take a Ford any day of the week.

Plus... who wants to walk out of thier house and look at the ugly abomination that's a Dodge. I love looking at my Powerstroke. Even if I realize it's a 6.0L and any random boost spike might mean new headgaskets... .

I'll take an antiquated ugly truck that will last 300-500k miles no problem as opposed to a good looking one that was short-cut in the design process on almost every step. The 6.0 Powerstroke engines are not reliable on the same level as the Cummins, but I've got no issues with the 7.3.

I've seen Cummins take more punishment than they should have and go on like nothings wrong, and I've seen lots of stock 6.0 and 6.4 engines broken with low miles for almost no reason. I've also ridden in some 12 sec qtr mile trucks (Cummins) and the power band, as well as level, can be increased quite a bit.

The cummins is tried and true. The 24V cummins is even better! It has a more simple fuel system and they are damn reliable. I should know, its what we use allllll of the time. The only issue we have ever had was fuel pump failure due to contaminated fuel.

Our ford f-350 at work has been in the shop NUMEROUS times so far. It only has 35K miles and already needed a front main seal, new water pump and now has a battery drain from somewhere. The f-350s we had when I was in NC (brand new 2003) was broke and in the shop the third month we had it. Our cummins dodge trucks never failed.

If the cummins is so shitty then why are people paying money to put a cummins in their fords? Look in Diesel Power mag.

i use to have an 1997 Dodge Cummins 12valve and i bought it with 648k miles on it for $1500 in 2006 but in 2008 when it rolled past 719k it dropped a valve keeper causing the injector to get damaged.. causing it to pour diesel into the cylinder burning a whole out the side of the block.. was a sad day.. but i did get 4k from insurance check... i was wanting another cummins but ran across this 2003 powerstroke to cheap to pass up.. plus cummins here in colorado are just rediculously over priced...

I did take care of a 97 with a 12v, but at 250k it was just worn out when I started with it and needed alot of work. I had an 05 cummins eat it's head at 60k. I had an 06 explode an injector (housing split) at 20k on top of various check engine lights and other nagging issues. The 12v are stout like a tractor engine and run like them too (one spot int heir 3000rpm range where they make power), but the 24v are a hodgepodge pile of crap that Chrysler and Cummins threw together to keep competitive with the other makes. In comparison, the Fords I took care of there were only three issues. The 7.3 had the most with needing a new turbo at 110k and a transmission rebuild at 190k. One of the 6.0s had an issue with the VVT actuator at about 6k and had its turbo replaced. That one was traded in at 120k with no other issues for a new 6.4. Last I checked those Fords were still treating that company just fine 4 years after I left whereas the other company I worked for is slowly moving to Chevrolet vehicles. Based off of what I've seen and experienced I still wonder what cummins people are smoking to make them think they have the god engine. Must be the same thing honda and toyota owners smoke.

Look at hot rod mags. Everything has some flavor of a 350 smallblock chevy, but that engine is by no means the best. It just happens to be the one with the most aftermarket support. Have you ever seen anything that hasn't had a 350 shoved in it?

ooh ooh i know one.... a Ferrari, i bet no one has put a 350 in a Ferrari.

the 350 4bolt main is about as bullet proof as they get. They last for a damn long time. Sure they are not the most efficient design, but it is still a good motor. ALSO since they were put into so many factory models they are dirt cheap to come by, hell you can pull one out of a junkyard for 150.00, hone the cylinders, replace the rings and have a good motor that will run another 100k mikes for 350.00. and you can do this 3-5 times before you will need a new block.

As far as diesels go, my preference is Cummins > powerstroke > duromax but that is just my opinion with no experience to back it up. I would actually love to put a 24v cummins and 6speed tranny into my 68 chevy truck with 4.10s...

sadly i have personally used this chain to pick up a flipped bob-cat...... and yet IT, the chain, was defeated by a truck and a bush.....all i need now is 2 fents and a crub!

haha i got home and the asphalt that my tires dug out of the street was plastered to the inside of the wheelwell... damn colorado streets suck.. now i got scrape that black shit out... but ya.. sorry i couldnt get her out..
