Since I am getting rid of the Golf, I needed another high mpg runaround.  This will do for now.

Nope - that ones still avail.  I thought about going to get that one today, but too much on my plate an not enough shop space.

It needs some oil leaks fixed and a bunch of other little stuff, but should be a decent ride for a bit.  Dav'e right - it's for sale.  Everything I own is for sale.

That's right - never be afraid to offer up some parts or other stuff I might be interested in!  That's how Scott got the 16V engine out of a Scirocco for the Decepticon.

Dasher Wagon
bwahahahaha.... yesterday on the way to work, I saw a 79-81 Silver Dasher wagon in my neighborhood.  I have no idea if the guy lives in my neighborhood or was passing through, but the car looked in excellent condition (atleast from the distance I saw it).  Tempted to start casing the side streets to see if I can find it again 8)

Seriously - let me know.  I'm not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm happy to repay favors like that or pay a little finders fee if I pick something up, etc.

I'll sell it to ya.   ;D

Seriously - When I left a nice corporate job years and years ago, I bought and sold VW parts to pay my mortgage and the bills for years.  Wasn't easy, but it was fun and taught me a bunch.  You're still pretty young - when you are older and making a bit more money you can buy stuff like this without thinking about it.  I have to think about it now because each one is dependant on profit to keep a roof over my growing family's heads.

Well, put some more time into the Syncro since the daily Driver Nissasn went away.

Replaced the chrome bumpers with black, removed the hack-alarm system and hack wired sub and amp.  Replaced the steering wheel with the Audi 4000 one from the Fox, replaced the rear axles, trimmed the sub box to fit it under the rear bench/bed (instead of out in the open under the middle bench), new wipers, oil change, etc etc.

Fri I go pick up the new wheels (forged, and from a Mercedes) and the new tires should be here by then, too.  =)

Now I just have to wait until an SVX engine lands in my lap...

Make the wheelbase shorter and the body higher. Doesn't look nearly unstable enough in a cross-breeze. Also, I thought SVX's were garbage, or is it just the car itself and the motor is ok?

The motor was fine.  A 3.3 water cooled boxer motor.  The car was touted as a "sports Car" but fell miserably short.

As a 'GT' car, its fine, but they were all automatics (silly, really) and the transmissions are a weakness.  The engines make 230hp stock, and that can be bumped up a bit with normal mods (intake, exhaust, chip).  Pefect for a heavy Van with bigger tires.

Ah the transmissions must be what sends them to an early grave. That and those stupid half windows.

I rode in a Syncro Westfalia (heaviest Vanagon ever made) with an SVX engine.  Would have *seriously* embarresed my Mk3 GTI.  Granted, it was just a 2.0 (intake, exhaust, chip), but still.  Not even close.

In a lighter Syncro (non-camper) and with a chip and a few other bits, should make 240-250hp and be very surprising to anyone I am passing.  =)
