I didn't see enough of the show to really comment, but I've always got $.02 and will throw out mine here:
1st - great show. Esp considering the economy, how much work it takes, etc etc. Really great job overall.
Critiques - and seriously, realize I know there are 1000 good things I'm not mentioning, so don't get butt hurt.
Seemed like a lot of workers really, really didn't know what was going on or when, etc. A morning meeting with everyone to go over the day and the big picture of the show might help, or maybe a card to give everyone with pertinant details or something, so even newbie volunteers would be able to know, or send someone to the right place for info.
Entrance signs - there was no real way to know which way to turn or go or why etc at the front and would be easy to make a "registration - go here first (big arrow)" type sign that would help.
Layout map - on the entrance info or something - would really help. Last year's map in the registration office (and some lack of knowledge in there) had me and a couple other swappers 1/2 set up in the completely wrong area. Had to reload, move, then unload again. Not a big deal to me, but could be to someone. I understand that it's not a venue made for it, but there was no rhyme or reason for swap setup spaces - some of the vendors seemed a little confused as to where to go early in the day as well. Can paint marks on the ground be used or spaces in the buildings be alocated by garage number, etc. (or were they and people just didn't get it)?
I swapped, and was glad it was only $10 - I knew the show wasn't a big swap meet event, but there was actually decent foot traffic and some people with cash. Lack of an ATM was a minus - I heard at least 10 times throughout the day, that they really wished there was an ATM there. If its at PPIR again, I would suggest having an ATM facility there or something like that.
I was really glad the cars were all on one side together and not seperated by air/water.
As a swapper, I would have MUCH preferred to have the 2nd infield building, that was empty and locked up? be used for swap meet spaces. Would have made it easier/better for us and a way to attract more swappers in the future. If it costs more, well, maybe not, but it would have helped to condense the show layout a bit and offered even more shade, which is always a problem at PPIR.
Nit-picking, really, and some of the items may simply not make financial sense to do, but at least you can look at them going in and realize it. Was fun and good to see lots of people, wish I would have sold more!
