Thanks to everyone who came out and volunteered and attended the show!!!  Please let US know what we can do to have this event grow! We want to get suggestions on things we can do better, or things that we did that was a waste.

Already heard the speakers weren't loud enough, but that is an easy fix. Any other ideas? What did you like/hate.

Also if you are interested in writing up an official review to vwvortex please contact me or anyone else from the committee.

I didn't see enough of the show to really comment, but I've always got $.02 and will throw out mine here:

1st - great show.  Esp considering the economy, how much work it takes, etc etc.  Really great job overall.

Critiques - and seriously, realize I know there are 1000 good things I'm not mentioning, so don't get butt hurt.

Seemed like a lot of workers really, really didn't know what was going on or when, etc.  A morning meeting with everyone to go over the day and the big picture of the show might help, or maybe a card to give everyone with pertinant details or something, so even newbie volunteers would be able to know, or send someone to the right place for info.

Entrance signs - there was no real way to know which way to turn or go or why etc at the front and would be easy to make a "registration - go here first (big arrow)" type sign that would help.

Layout map - on the entrance info or something - would really help.  Last year's map in the registration office (and some lack of knowledge in there) had me and a couple other swappers 1/2 set up in the completely wrong area.  Had to reload, move, then unload again.  Not a big deal to me, but could be to someone.  I understand that it's not a venue made for it, but there was no rhyme or reason for swap setup spaces - some of the vendors seemed a little confused as to where to go early in the day as well.  Can paint marks on the ground be used or spaces in the buildings be alocated by garage number, etc. (or were they and people just didn't get it)?

I swapped, and was glad it was only $10 - I knew the show wasn't a big swap meet event, but there was actually decent foot traffic and some people with cash.  Lack of an ATM was a minus - I heard at least 10 times throughout the day, that they really wished there was an ATM there.  If its at PPIR again, I would suggest having an ATM facility there or something like that.

I was really glad the cars were all on one side together and not seperated by air/water.

As a swapper, I would have MUCH preferred to have the 2nd infield building, that was empty and locked up? be used for swap meet spaces.  Would have made it easier/better for us and a way to attract more swappers in the future.  If it costs more, well, maybe not, but it would have helped to condense the show layout a bit and offered even more shade, which is always a problem at PPIR.

Nit-picking, really, and some of the items may simply not make financial sense to do, but at least you can look at them going in and realize it.  Was fun and good to see lots of people, wish I would have sold more!

again thanks for all the work!! I did wanna ask was the turnout much smaller than last year or was it just because we were packed in a little tighter?  Seems like half of the lot wasn't used.  Only other suggestion I would make is keep up the mixed parking.  However my old mans Audi which intentionally rolled in behind me so we could park together was told to get out of line so "we can park all these MK2's together"  No biggie at all other than if you are going to do mixed parking don't try to shuffle cars around on the fly.  it added to some confusion and parking delays.

Also a few of us inquired about renting space in the garage to display the cars, mostly cause it sucks babysitting an easy up all day.  Even tho mine was weighed down the wind was just enough that I didn't want to leave it to blow into someones car. While I could care less if my car sits in the sun id' gladly pay so extra so I don't have to.  We were quoted a price for a spot in the garage that was 20x20.  The collective decided it was too small for the price quoted.  During the show a very large portion of that garage was unused.  I would have been glad to pay the asking price had we got a bigger area and it sure seemed available.  It could have been cash in the shows bank account for space that went unused.  I suspect there are reasons for it and not griping but you asked for opinions.  Thanks again everyone.  Had a great time!

I don't know the details, but I know that PPIR raised the price (a LOT) and restricted use of the garage space (referring to Greg's comment about a building being locked), so I think that was part of the ass raping we took this year.  I hope PPIR doesn't think we are made of money, because if they do we are going to need to start the location search NOW!!!  I am betting the World Arena would be open to the event again, especially since you can show incorporation papers and an entirely new staff (that doesn't have my name in it at all).

First,
Thanks for the feedback so far, it really helps us keep you folks happy and coming back.  Thanks for showing up and I hope everyone had a good time.  Personally I didn't have any time to enjoy it, I got to talk to about 3 people for a couple mins but that was it.  From what I heard so far, people enjoyed the track again.

Greg... the north garages were not open to us, as they are now occupied by PPIR tenants. They are not even an option for us to rent.

I agree with the workers comment and already mentioned about 10 times that we need to do a preshow run just so everyone is on the same page.  It really shows when there is only a quick 20 min meeting day of show.
The map will not be put up again next year unless it is accurate.  Not sure how it was put up to begin with.

We did try to get an ATM this year but never heard back from the company.  Next year we will have a solution, whether it be an ATM or be able to take a credit card.

London...
The turnout was a little smaller or perhaps about the same as last year.  We are still tallying the final count on reg, but the big difference was the way we were packed in.  Not having gaps in the rows and having cars pulled out further on the aisle made it seem like less cars.

I did get feedback that everyone liked being able to park next to each other and I think we will go with this again next year.   Sorry about the parking hassle, I saw how screwed up it got and pretty much stepped in to park the rest of the cars myself.  Not sure who told your dad to step out of line but I tried to get him as close as I could once I saw what happened.   Sorry again.

The garages were not supposed to be as open as they were, we actually had a couple vendors/sponsors that didn't show.  I agree that if we have the room to make it more enticing to sell the space.  Our main concern is people confusing sponsor vehicles and those who paid for the space and are still showing.  We are going to layout sponsors ahead of time next year and will have a better idea of whats available.

Please dont take my responses as negating your feedback, I just like to comment on what is said so you know we are taking your comments to heart.

Thanks for coming out again, I hope everyone had a good time.

I spoke to the director in 08 and in 09, they said NO but HELL NO to DATR in general! Who knows for 11' though

Yeah I dont think we can get back in there as long as the Dottie chick is still there.  Paul is going to have to work some magic if he wants to keep us there as another price increase at PPIR will break this show.

Well, you have what... 3 years of a strict no alcohol policy with a proven track record now... right?

I think it wouldn't be much of a stretch to show that you are taking things seriously.

right on Carlito, it all makes sense...  I figured you might have had some vendors not show up.  I'd suggest for next year to use up some more of that lot then.   Get the cars a little more spread out.  As far as parking close to my pops, it wasn't an issue at all.  The only reason I brought it up was because it was supposed to be mixed parking and staff members were changing it on the fly.  I say let em park exactly how they show up!  Can't have it both ways.
