so what kind of ticket you get?

Couple years ago I got pulled over doing 110 on powers near fountain (55 zone) by the county sheriff and his deputy.  He started off by thanking me for pulling over then gave 12pt speeding and 8pt careless, instead of wreckless and impounding the car w/ a night in jail (which any state has the right to do when it's 40mph over the speed limit).  Talked with a lawyer.  Paid $75 in court costs and $100 fine in exchange for speeding being dropped completely and 8pt careless dropped to 4pt careless.  Insurance didn't go up a cent.

Yep     It was about 1:30am (pitch black w/ no moon).  I almost didn't stop, but something said to.   Just before leaving he ask "ya know, me and my deputy were just wondering.  What goes through your head when you pass a cop going 110 in a 55"  I replied with "uh..well, I'll be honest.  I didn't even see you".  He said "well, you might want to slow down."  They both walked away laughing.

honestly, if I were a cop and I came across that very situation (nobody on the road at 1:30 AM in a safe environmen) I would either let them go or severely mark down the ticket. You could be doing that on Academy at 10pm on Sat night, but you were smart and safe. Dicks.
