man the truck hauls ass... I had issues spinning in 3rd in the rain today!   :canadian:

Im going to do my dyno and see where the a/f ratio is. That should let me know how much to richen it up.

Your truck's really coming together, makes me wish I still had mine. Just a bit of advice, before you waste your money on dyno runs you need to get a CIS-E with some sort of enrichment module or CIS Motronic so you give that 16v the gas it craves. Here is a link to that exhaust cam thread I was telling you about.

Basic doesn't have any of the limiting emissions controls... put a vacuum enrichment WUR on it, do some tuning, and be done :)

I like ed's idea. I probably wont do any of those however. I want it to be clean, so clean women lick the engine. Anyhow EFI is in my future, now if I could win me a discount from 034 or SDS I'd be set!!!  (this is dave)

That might be good enough for a stock set-up but if he wants more he will go lean up top. What do you mean "limiting emissions controls" Motronic will give him more than enough fuel. I idle and cruise with a 14.5afr and WOT is 12.5/13afr.

Tune the DPR on CISe. Problem solved. Only the factory tune hamstrings CISe cars. Now CIS Motronic I agree sucks. It has a lot of brains but no real way of using them. If they made a CE2 CISe harness I'd snag one up and rip out that Motronic shit in my car, but since they don't I'll just run Megasquirt.  ;D Now I just need money. :(

I don't dought that you can get 13:1 on your 8v. Do you think with 8 extra valves, cams, P&P, header and a good exhaust it will be the same?

Motronic does suck donkey balls, and is garbage.

CIS-E is a by far more tuneable and upgradable system. But just plain CIS is the best ever, everything can be tuned thru pressure

CIS-Motronic was a half mutant gutter baby that should have just have never happened. They should have just gone straight to full motronic and had a much better performing system. CIS-Motronic is no better than any GM electric carb garbage.

Your right I did not have it tuned correctly. :banghead: Even if I would have got it dialed in I still think it would have not been any better than my Motronic!

How is CIS-E more tuneable, I tuned mine with the DPR just like CIS-E.

CIS-E is more simple, sometimes that is what matters. I talked with Peter Tong on vortex many times, and he swears that CIS-E is the best and K-Basic is close behind. The real benefit that E has over Basic is the WOT switch and how it can also keep the fuel curve pretty level (even at idle, thanks frequency valve)

ME on the other hand, I prefer the basic at the moment. I have the whole -almost uncut-  CIS-E (from a 1.8 rocco) and if I end up needing it, cool. Ive got a shim in the control needle on the dizzy and I will probably find me a vacuum dizzy IF I find the power not enough. For the moment I like it.  :t-up:

Build a CIS-E turbo system, and build a Motronic turbo system and than please come back and talk

You know MS is by far a better system than any SDS system, and the only thing 034 has over it is on the IIc boxes for sequential fuel/ignition control

I would never run a SDS system, paying for a hand held controller. And would never run 034 because they do not have wideband o2 control. If i paying that much for a ecu it better have full wideband control and not use a pos innovate wideband adaptor

I just have heard nightmare story after another. If MS was so awesome more people would run it. I know its cheaper and it will get you by, but I have seen how easy SDS is to set up and tune. Just personal preferance.

Anyway, I got a quote for paint, roll and pull fenders and to fix all the blemishes... 2300 bucks.  :o

What do you mean Motronic sucks, you tune it the same way you tune CIS-E.

Ummm, no you don't. Motronic requires a chip to change fuel trim and timing curves. If you monkey with the DPR and idle mixture settings you throw everything out of spec. At that point the computer trys to compensate for everything you just did and set itself back to stock, or it just goes hay-wire and won't run right.

I just have heard nightmare story after another. If MS was so awesome more people would run it. I know its cheaper and it will get you by, but I have seen how easy SDS is to set up and tune. Just personal preferance.

The nightmare stories are probably from people that don't know what they're doing. MS requires the user to have a good understanding of how EFI works. The fact that it's cheap to get gives the illusion that it's also simpler to use. There are a ton of people running it, but they usually hang out on the MS forums and not on the Tex.

Those nightmare storys happen to anyone running Standalone EFI when they do not know what they are doing.

It DOES NOT mattter which one you choose, you will have the same problems if you do not know what you are doing. The difference is that because Megasquirt is so much cheaper more people attempt it, and fail. But there are plenty of the same storys behind SDS and all others

Oh I am sure of that, I would prefer to get a system that would be easier to sort out. Its been awhile since I looked into MS, but last time you have to build the box and the harness?

you can buy pre-made units... its the wiring/harness that you do have to custom make (unless Patraton suddenly starts making them again )

I, and about a bazillion people from the msefi.com forums, can attest to the quality of DIYautoparts.c om (either for kits or complete ones, where I got my unit from) ;)

You dont have to build you own bix, and never did. DIY has made preassembled boxes for awhile. And Need_a_vr6 builds harness and boxes for plug and play setups.

SDS you are paying someone to do the same thing
