so i needed to get a 2nd car so found this in denver for 450 and it seems to be a good start

1986 8v gti
lots of funny wiring work
the kid decided to murder out the car and so just black premiering every thing even the front turn signals and side markers
so lots of work to do, first is to tar the head off and see if it needs just an head job or a new head gasket or new motor
kid said it had the head gasket go out and started to over heat and then stop running but not sure what the true story is i see orange silicone in between the head and block so not sure what the kid really did but we will see
smokestack and i will be taring it apart on sunday the 5th and seeing what is going on
anyways here are a few pic to look at

Whelp, cracked rings on number 4 so it either needs a rebuild or replace. Anyone have a line on a cheap short or long block 8v?

I think he means this one because it's a high compression motor with (more than likely) a hydro head so he can keep his GTI camshaft.

miles who know's odo stoped at 113,000 when bought the car 5 years ago, if i had to guess i've put about 15,000 onit since i bought it

why did i take it .....out to replace my tranny that blew and but a high comp motor in

and i had less problems with it then my new motor

the 86 8v out of denver is bunk it has been sitting for a few years the guy said long enough that he can't remember the miles or how well it ran but he said that it ran

so AJ 8v sounds like a better motor and hope to here from him to day and get the motor swap under way

so i talk to AJ yesterday and im picking up the motor on friday
i got all new gaskets for it to day so that while the motor is out i can take care of any chance of oil leaks
im going to try and get the car in town tomorrow to my buddies house and then do the swap on sunday
hoping to get it in and running on sunday
hope to drive it up to the bug show on Aug. 9th
its not the best looking thing in the world but plan to paint it next (mat ginster yellow) hopefully

might as well replace the rear main seal now, while the motor is already seperated from the tranny

The only seal/gasket he's not replacing is the head gasket. Getting a new clutch too.

picked up motor and going to start swapping it over in the morning

got the motor in last night and running

but found that the gas tank has a hole in it some were

because i was putting gas in and it came out almost as fast as i could put it in
not sure were it is but we checked the fill neck and its not leaking there
so a another trip down to you pull and pay for a another one

so i fix the feul issue and got plates on it friday
been driving it this week runs ok will be getting with smokestack end of week to retime it and then again later on to supertune it
wow it needs struts bad but just don't have the cash right now
over all not a bad car for a 700 dollar car
