APR Chip Install
« on: May 09, 2009, 12:56:05 PM »

Where does everyone recommend going to get an APR chip installed on 06 A4 S-line? I looked online and saw a few places in Denver and one locally. Thanks

Before the jerks of the forum chime in: first post, introduce yourself!

My buddy has an 08 S-line that he just got APR chipped from Avalon in Denver.  I'm sure he'd be willing to talk to you about it.  His forum name is xlr8bmx or something like that.  I'll tell him to check this thread.

Got my wife's B5S4 GIAC chip done at Autobahn Premier in Denver.  Randy is a good guy and I also went with him to rebuild the wife's transmission (same car).

I decided to make the drive up to Avalon in Denver (http://www.avalonmotorsports.com/) because of their solid reputation and I heard mixed things about the local shop.

Avalon was great though, took about 45 minutes and I was on my way.  APR chip is fun  :t-up:

Thanks everyone, That settles it i am gonna go to Avalon and get it done. How many of you upgraded your diverter valve at the same time. I hear it breaks a lot easier once you are chipped.

Just so everyone knows, RS Motorsport is the lead APR dealer for denver metro area. Everyone else is a sub-dealer for RS

Don't get unitronic for the b7.  APR, GIAC, or REVO

If you ask me APR or Revo for stock turbo cars only, and Unitronic for big turbo cars. Only way to go

My bias on GIAC is strictly from working on vehicles with it. Never driven one long term, but they do drive nice and feel strong

But have had lots of problems with chips and dealing with giac. Cat faults that never go away, more turbos blown, etc

I won't let any shop touch my car in Colorado except Avalon Motorsports, and I'm in Colorado Springs.  I'd recommend staying away from European Performance Specialists.  The guy there has jacked up people's flashes before.  I saw him almost jack up a friend's car -- good thing I was watching closely at what he was doing  -- had to correct him on how he was doing it.   ::)

yeah.... he'll figure out where he wants to go. Troy does good work from what everyone has to say, and so does Brian at Avalon.

I did APR at RS. They are awesome. Troy knows a thing or two about VW/Audi tuning, I'd trust his opinion.

wow, really?  does this persons name start with an L and end with an N?  I have been wanting to get the APR tune but have had zero time.  I know I have very few posts here but I plan on being around for a good amount of time.

thanks

The best place to send these German cars is a place called 3zero3 Motorsports in Wheatridge they did my chipping and if there is any kind of problem they work with you really hard amnd make sure you are satisfied when your done. They are certified Revo dealer and Autospeed along with APR

When I was new to the scene I stopped in at EPS and talked to said L-N.  Instantly I could tell he was a douche.  I would ask some questions and he would answer them with a condecending tone.  Told him that every once in a while it would take a second try to slam in to 3rd when driving uber hard.  He told me my transmission was bad and would cost about $2k to replace.  I then asked him about some mods and different stages.  He said don't do anything over stage 2.  The car is not made for it and you will likely destroy something.  Last thing I had to ask was if he could give me APR stage 1.  He said he would as soon as he got the set up from apr.  He gave me some excuse for about a month.  I finally went up to RS.  About 2 months later he finally called and said he had an opening the next day.  I told him, sorry bubba, you took too long.
