If the seller can find the title I'll be the proud new owner of a 1990 16v GLI. It ain't perfect, but it'll keep me busy. Unfortunately I get to do a repeat of Buffalo Bill in a lot of areas. Needs leaks fixed, some paint/body work, big bumpers and general 17 year old car TLC. The Recaros are in decent shape and it's go a 2.0 that runs pretty good. I wish it still had the BBS RAs instead of snowflakes, but at least I get to choose my summer wheels. All the little things seem to work except the electronics of the passive restraints, but those are getting replaced with 3 points. I'm going to be putting together a shopping list and heading to A1 next week for all the dumb little things I threw out when I moved.

Now dude just needs to hurry up and find the title before the wife "convinces" me to change my mind.

This thing is full of some cool little surprises. It has a tilt column and power locks that work. I couldn't get the cruise control to work though. The wife approves though. She marked it with her orange Fanta can. On to the pictures!

Someone has added those after the fact.

And I kinda liked the recaro badge too.

I wish it had a TT exhaust. It's "custom". Looks like someone took out the resonator, replaced it with a pipe and didn't reassemble things perfectly straight. At least it has Neuspeed race springs and bilstien struts. Everything else on the car appears to be either maintained or untouched. I'm going to go through and fix leaks, change fluids and replace the timing belt before I start driving the car much. Might even do a clutch while I'm at it since it'll be easier to reseal the transmission outputs with the tranny out of the car and it looks like the rear main leaks. The fine toothed comb is going to come out over the next couple of weeks.

So far I've cleaned out 2 mouse nests complete with winter food supplies, fixed some pretty serious vacuum leaks (CIS motronic is more forgiving with vacuum leaks than regular CIS is apparently), fixed all of the POs fancy wiring along with cleaning some crusty connectors, installed an electric motor for the sunroof and installed the driver's side 3 point belt. Next major project is fixing the exhaust leak and having more than one hanger at the tailpipe hold the whole thing up.

Fun times! Even with all of the dumb problems with this car, when you compare this car to that 8v GTI that was for sale on here awhile back I got a screaming deal!

i just ordered some reinforced exhaust hangers from techtonics for my mk2. i recommend them if you are going to do a suspension that is stiffer than stock.

I'll probably pick some up when I get a tt exhaust then. Right now I'm just slapping a bandaid on so I don't asphyxiate.

Its the black plastic piece on the trunk lid.... American tubs have a notch out for an american plate. Euro tubs have the notch out for the euro tag

Thanks. Did some horse trading a couple of months back. I wish they had more of an offset, but they're better than the Denvers that were on there.
