.:R modding day.
« on: April 08, 2009, 10:53:00 AM »

Getting some parts in this weekend from GNG.  Gonna throw them on either Saturday or Sunday depending on when they come in.  Mostly little stuff but if anyone likes modding cars but has no money for their own mods, you are welcome to come help.  Or you can bring beer and sit and watch.  Probably do most of it at Barry's house (if that's cool Barry? lol), and might do spacers at the auto-hobby shop so we can use the lift.

List:
Intake (filter on a stick)
Wheel spacers all around (8mm front, 20mm rear, with bolts)
LED city, corner, and license plate lights
LED interior lights for pretty much the whole interior
Radar detector hard-wire kit (hopefully in this weekend)

Also having a polyurethane dogbone motor mount installed by GNG and getting a GIAC flash.

Gonna order a few more mods in a couple weeks, to include rear sway bar, tie bars, maybe high-flow cats or a test-pipe, bigger exhaust tips, exhaust-flapper 3-way switch kit, and some form of suspension.  Gonna have GNG do cams for me too :-)

truth of the matter is, the dogbone mount can very easily be intsalled on your own too.  dont need GNG for that one.  god it must be nice to have a chunk of cash to throw down on your car...:banghead:

Suspension will come a few weeks :-)

Juan, your garage is micro-sized.  Plus Barry has like 10,000 tools, a fridge in the garage, and more driveway space, lol.

It's going down this weekend, hopefully.  Depends on when the parts come in.  Also, it's Easter on Sunday, so that might make it a bit more difficult for some people.

I'm staying NA.  Don't wanna deal with the hassle of FI.  Gonna get suspension in the next batch of mods.  Probably get a rear-sway and tie-bar sometime in between mod binges to hold me over.  I'm probably gonna keep the stock exhaust, get a 3-way switch for the flapper so I can put it in "stealth" mode occasionally, get some bigger tips to fill out the rear valence, and possible get a high-flow cat or test pipe.

I still have my dingle :-/

go with eurosport front...

and yarrowsport rear.

and get a freaking aftermarket exhaust....the flapper stuff you talk about it ok..but if you want the power..you should just do it.

I LOVE the stock exhaust.  A test-pipe is like $5 and gets me plenty of hp, compared to that droning monster exhaust in your car.

Control arms are a gimme when I get suspension.

i hope you love it when i stomp all over it.!..with my loud exhaust.

a test pipe will make your exhaust louder..and raspier..even if it is STOCK.

do you need new resistors with that STOCK exhaust_?

HAHA.

you crack me up.

a good decent test pipe....is NOT 5.00 dollars.

try more like 150ish.

I don't think that is an unreasonable question to ask if the LED kit comes with the appropriate resistors for the lighting system...  Dumb question > Melted wiring harnesses

And if a piece of tubular metal (read: test-pipe) costs $150, I'll make one, or leave the exhaust stock.  Yes, it will be louder and raspier, but it's still essentially stock, and still has a flapper for quiet mode.  Flapper is the biggest reason I'm not getting exhaust.

Gonna have to be postponed until next weekend.  All the parts won't be in until then.  At least I got a radar detector and a hardwire kit to keep me satisfied until then.
