so heres the story. i found a set of headlights that i wanted on the vortex, so sent money via paypal to the seller. that was 29 Jan. ive been in communication with him since, and the first couple weeks after i sent him the money, the excuse was "ive been really busy and havent had a chance to pull them off my car". then 16 feb i went to germany. i told him to go ahead and send them, cuz someone will be home to get them. he then claims that he misread the message and thought that i said no one would be home while i was in germany, so he was waiting til i got back to send them. i wrote him back and said to send right away (this is about 6 or 7 march).

i get another message from him a week later saying that he sent UPS, but they sent it back to him because he "misspelled my last name". i find this to be bullshit, because i get mail and packages to my house with my name misspelled all the time. so he says hes going to pick up the package and ship fedex instead (mar 16). i asked him for a tracking number, and he says that he lost the paperwork from when he shipped it. so a week went by and still no package. i called fedex, who is able to pull up shipping info with the recipient address, and they showed no record of anything being shipped to my house in the past several months. i called UPS to try the same, but theyre arent able to pull up that info. that was monday that i called fedex. last time the guy replied to any of my IMs on vortex was last friday.

the thing that gets me about this is that it would have been one thing if it was some noob on the vortex. but this guy has been a member since 2004, with a post count of 7000+. so i would hope for a bit more integrity than that. i think if the headlights arent here my friday, im going to file a claim through paypal. you guys have any advice?

I have had ONE guy yank me like that before..and well i was glad i could get the money back from paypal...

I say the guy is hiding something...

Additionally, where is he from? Sounds like you are getting ripped off, and I'd start the paypal claim process... it has a few resolution steps that you have to go through before it is escalated to an actuall non-shipment claim and you get your money back....

I wouldnt drag his name on the tex through the mud quite yet... hold off until he ignores your paypal attempts to resolve the issue.

Have you spoken to him on the phone? Start the claim process in paypal and politely let him know you either want your money, or confirmed tracking information...

send him a PM, and tell him you want to talk to him in person about resolving the issue. Explain to him that you feel there is an obvious issue, and that you dont want to initiate a PP claim....

Pretty sure you only have 30 days to file the Paypal claim so if I'm reading the timeline correctly you're fucked in that aspect....but. . if you funded the payment with a credit card you can dispute the charge with your Credit card company.

i got burned by some low life in new hampshire and apparently that's all the guy does it rip people off. he had like six different sn's within the past two or three years. i finally found out the guys name and through the magic of google i actually found out that he had been arrested for drug possesion. it was in a local newspaper article that was listed online. ha. that's why i never heard back from the fucktard. so i posted it up in the north east forums on the 'tex for everyone to see. people starting coming out of the wood work and saying all kinds of shit and how everyone was glad he was behind bars.

All you have to be is HONEST with people and they will be fine.

I once forgot to send something..by total accident...and about 2 weeks had passed...never heard from him..then all of a sudden..i heard from him..(and i had tried to contact him when i found the thing laying there that i obviously didnt ship)..so i actually refunded him half the money AND send him the item (wasnt high dollar..but i guess it is all PRINCIPLE)....

So yeah, good luck to you.

This is why , more and more, I just deal LOCALLY, in cash, and in person.

Or I have a FEW select people that I buy from repeatedly...b ut even that isnt Guarantee, people in this day and age, tend to be a bit bipolar.

It is obvious that his 7000+ post count means CRAP.

Last thing is that someone could be honest in 399 transactions, but the 400th one that they chose to screw someone over, well they will get what is coming to them...and it sucks more for the person who had to be the 400th.

Sad.

Just be persistant, honest, reasonable, and professional with him... If he has a reputation, and people in his region know him, he will either do you right, or he will end up like some other people we all know

However, some people just seem to not care about their reputation.

Also, I still find it hard to believe these people can sleep at night.....Mayb e if you sit by their window with a bat...then may not be able to sleep.

I would still try to go thru paypal. If you start talking refund and going thru paypal, he might get nervous and ship it.
