So I got this moderately sketchy email today.

Name: Christopher Panza
Subject: No bullshit
hey bro if your car is still for sale I want it. Im in town from phoenix and I need to buy a car asap to drive back. Im talking by thursday latest. I have $$$$$$ so Im not bullshitting. Either way call me or text me at *** *** **** as i said Im in denver for the moment. Please respond either way.

So I called and he seemed quasi-legit. He's in Denver for 2-3 more days and is looking at cars. He really likes mine, he's not an enthusiast though. Had a turbo'd eclipse and various other cars. I told him all the details about the car. He said he'd be willing to meet halfway. He's going to drive some other cars but said he's gonna hold off on buying one until he checks out mine.

What do you guys think? Anyone with a pistol permit mind tagging along? I don't wanna get mugged/stabbed/shot and left in Castle Rock. How would I go about getting paid? I'll be damned if I take a check and let him drive away in my car. I'm also not accepting cash without a bank there to verify it's all real.

Advice? Avoid this dude? I would definitely not mind getting this thing sold by Thursday (even though it's fun as fuck again!).

I'd say cash only and check the serial numbers. Other than that, take a buddy in case you sell it on the spot and one of those marker checky thingies that stores use to check to see if $20 and larger bills are legit. I think you can pick them up at Officemax and Staples.

I'd love to see the car go to an enthusiast but I've had no interest from Por-tex. Whereas I've had a lot of interest from craigslist... I'd rather have money for plates and parts on my .:R

so sell the car to someone from craigslist...w ho cares where the car goes if you need the money... deal in cash and deal in public.

if he/she pays in 50s/100s check the bils with a pen, (buy a pen at staples/office max etc.) don't take a personal check or money order, if he wants to pay with a cashiers check say, that is fine, if they have a branch you can goto and cash it before you hand over the title or keys. always good to have someone follow you so you have a ride home. if scared have second person hold the title....

oh and don't be sooo damn scared. you act as if your selling 2keys of crack and need backup. its just a car deal.

His LinkedIn is kinda weird. He lists himself as a Gambling & Casino Professional. Educated in the School of Hard Knocks from 1972-2008 so I'm guessing that means he's 35-ish. Probably signed in once, then realized it wasn't like myspace and never returned. Sounds like a tool more than anything else.

i would say find a bank parking lot to meet with this guy. then talk car in the lot and if he wants it, tell him cash or certified check. then if deal goes thru, go into bank to finalize the deal. have the bank check the payment for authenticity.
