I can't for the life of me understand why are are trying to go backwards with technology just because the current system in the car is malfunctioning?

If anything put something more technologicall y advanced in there, not something less

part of the problem is neither his exhaust manifold or downpipe have an O2 sensor bung... besides being early Mk1 exhaust pieces, too much rust IMO to weld an O2 bung... then combine some kind of electrical problem to the ECU... uhg

Personally, I'd love to see everything corrected, but if the Dasher ran perfectly fine with Basic and an Audi 3A engine... bah, his little 1.8L 8v will run just fine

There are more reasons to go to Basic at the moment. He is trying to get it to run daily and dependable. Just make it more simple.

What Ed said makes sense, he is going to have to buy a new lamda, find an ECU that is working, and then the other numerous little electronic problems. To get it running good for now, basic will do just fine.

yea tomorrow i'm going to take the basic fuel dizzy off and put it on a larger plate air box lid since the one it's on is less then half the size of the one on the car now

remember... the air plate and the fuel meter may be a matched set. A smaller opening doesn't necessarily mean less air flow as much as higher air plate movement with less air movement

Don't be afraid to use the whole assembly, the fuel system still can support much more HP than your engine can put out

hey before you do that, ask Peter Tong on vortex... I am pretty sure he told me a while back that the smaller air plate has a deeper cone so it is actually they flow the same over all CFM. Also call me tomorrow, bring your car to my shop around 1 and we will get it done.

yea i pulled the plug from cyl #1 today and the fucking ground is smashed against the electrode, and the insulator

so i'm going to get new plugs today and then plan on coming down to your shop , i take it u didn't get the tranny done?

cause i have a garage you can work in now

nope i sure didn't just got the oil leak from the cam seal but i plan on changing all the gasket's sometime this summer

I picked up the seals, axle grease and new clamps for my CV boots, but I felt like taking the day off... so maybe I'll finish the truck tomorrow. Blah. Need to change out that fuel pump also.

I am in great need of the loud exhaust and the not so smooth suspension. I will probably just do it tomorrow after work.
