Topic: I think my next car will be an S8... thoughts? (Read 683 times)

If there is any car I have lusted after more than my current S6, it would have to be the S8. Those things are just drop dead gorgeous and the prices are finally starting come down out of the stratosphere. Does anyone here have any experience with those cars, and if so what were your feelings on the subject?

I saw this one on Audifans for under 12k the other day and now I can't stop thinking about it!

Unfortunately, yes. It's similar to a 7-series BMW in the fact that only old people who want big and comfortable cars will buy it.

V8s dont need a standard to be fast and fun, autos work just fine.

i've wanted one of those. slam it, slap a blower on it and call it a day.

I am not old, and yeah the auto kinda sux, but I could always do a swap.... that would be a serious custom job though!

I was looking at a 2001 s8 a few ears ago for 19k and a couple of A8L. The thing that worries me is the aluminum body and frame where you have to send the car to NY to get it fixed... some old fart just told me this on the dealership anyway the engine itself is pretty solid with the 01's 350hp?.... non fsi model.

Go for it man, those thing are super tits. Everytime I see one (especially in white) I nut a little. Then my car gets mad at me and spools the turbo to remind me why I love it so much.

S8s are very nice (even A8s are nice, really). They drive very well, and the back seat is comfortable. I'll probably go for a D3 V10 S8 someday, but the D2 S8 is a great buy.

i hardly ever remember my dreams, but last night i had a dream of an a8 that was stretched into a limo. i was driving a bus and it pulled in front of me, fishtailed and speed off. it had some blingin' rims too. hmmmm.....

I didn't realize they were so cheap now. I like those as well.

For some reason, i have a hankering for a big VW/Audi. I've also really wanted to buy a Phaeton since they are quite cheap as well. You can find a V8 for around $25K and W12s for around $30K. Low miles too.

why not get an rs6? the bi-turbo 4.2 is hard on the tranny, but other than that... great car.

saw one for sale recently up north.... very nice car for the price.

And the C5 RS6 is one of the best-designed cars of all time, IMO.

agreed, i just took a look for them to see what was available, but they're still going for mid to high 20k's
