damn man why does every car you own have issues... sell em all and buy a new one LOL
Warranty is your friend.
I use to stick with cars that were a bit older because I though it would be cheaper to pay for repairs than the monthly car payment. For the most part, as long as I did the repairs myself, it was significantly cheaper than a car payment, but there were plenty of weekends I spent in the garage when I wanted to be doing other things. There were plenty of weeks where I worked on my car every waking moment so I could stop bumming rides to work. Then I moved to having two older cars and any savings compared to a car payment were pretty much lost and I was guaranteed to never have a weekend free from working on cars. It was kinda weird when I bought my mkv tdi. Every weekend for about 6 months I'd look at it trying to think of anything that needed to be fixed on it. I'd actually be aching to do
something to it and would end up washing and detailing it. Eventually it sank in that I didn't have to work on cars every weekend. If I felt the need to get my hands dirty it was satisfied by installing some type of upgrade, and not by fixing some grimy, stuck, rusted, greasy, knuckle bloodying, seized part that grenaded at an inopportune time. Yes I was paying $500 in car payments (yes I have a craptacular credit rating) and an extra $100 a month for insurance, but I think it was worth it for the extra free time and the creature comforts; no drafts, quiet, tight handling, no vibrations, seats that still had stuffing, defrosters/heaters that worked, ability to drive to the next town without having an "adventure" along the way, no electrical problems, no oil slicks on the driveway, it doesn't stink, etc. Not to mention the
really nice things like A/C, heated seats, power windows, power mirrors, mirrors with defrost, etc. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have at least one new car sitting in the driveway from now on.
