DATR 2009 location?
« on: January 04, 2009, 08:10:21 AM »

Any update on the location for 2009?

Our club (WetDub.com) is now looking to where we want the big GTG for this year. If this happens, I think most of us would definitely plan on making the drive to the track formerly known as PPIR.

We are mainly interested in the driving, much less about shows, so that or another site (such as the past Salida site) would be great.

Thanks...

Welcome! Please tell us about yourself and your club..... stuff I could probably find on your site. Nothing has been finalized for DATR '09 yet so that's that. Were you referring to Treffen '07?

Wetdub.com is the online presence for the club known as  Wetdub, a group of Volkswagen and Audi enthusiasts based in the south central region of the United States. While we love all things Volkswagen and Audi, the main focus of the group is on the watercooled era ('75-Present).

The club was formed in late summer of 2005 after two regional clubs (OKCWetDub and Team Foolie of Wichita, KS) merged to pool resources and better enjoy the cars we all love.

As a club we participate in anything from local weekly get-togthers, to regional shows and track events.

Most of the members are from the following areas: Oklahoma City, OK :: Tulsa, OK :: Wichita, KS :: Ozarks / Northwest Arkansas :: Dallas, TX

About myself... I'm a software architect who enjoys tweeking and improving cars. I started in earnist around '94 when, after getting married, moving to Fountain, and being an E3 in the Air Force, I didn't have any spare money to work on my '87 Jetta GLI. After finishing my degree at Colorado Tech, becoming a contractor (still for the Air Force) and moving to Florida, in 2000 I finally upgraded to a '90 Corrado G60 (what I wanted while I was in the AF, but could not afford). Being a Colorado native (grew up in Monte Vista, moved to Pueblo while in HS), I wanted to move closer to home (that and Florida was much too flat). In '04 we moved in Edmond, OK (just north of OKC) where I live today.

Since then I've made MANY changes to the Corrado, first upgrading the car and the G60 supercharger, then going to a BBM "silenced lysholm", and now, an AWP 1.8T transplant. For more info on that see this: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3513322

I have continued to do various upgrades and changes. For the upcoming year, I plan to add brake ducts to the calipers (not just the wheel wells), Wilwood Forged Dyalite calipers, a 3" downpipe with an electric exhaust cutout (for track use).

Obligatory photos (yes it needs paint, but that's not as fun as go fast parts):

We are all smarta$$'s here so if you're one you'll fit right in. Nice 'Rado btw. As I don't know too much about them what kind of front bumper is that?? I like.

we are still in the process of finalizing the contract with the venue, so we don't have anything to announce at this time; but we will have the final announcement and press release by the end of this month which will include the venue location and special events for this years show.

Happy weekend...  8)

It's a RS4 style bumper, that was made by EIN Design in Germany. I choose that because the center provides a great place for a radiator scoop, and the two large sides, brake ducts (and it was cheap, other than shipping). Doing it again, I'd love to have the same design, but in plastic or something more chip resistant than the epoxy glass it is made of.

I'm sitting in my garage with the door up (it's in the 70's today, but not tomorrow), having just taken out my old OEM rearview mirror and put in one of the Allview wide mirrors (so I can see behind me with a helmet on).

Thanks for the  :t-up:'s

From the Dubs Along The Rockies planning committee:

We're pleased to officially announce the 8th Annual Dubs Along The Rockies VW & Audi Enthusiast Event! This year's DATR event will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Pikes Peak International Raceway. PPIR is located just south of Colorado Springs in Fountain, CO. The following is a brief list of show details goals and info:

2008 DATR elected to advertise the event on a national level. We received very good feedback and are striving to do this again. Keep an eye out for this ad in the July or August issue of Eurotuner which hits stores in mid-June and mid-July.

EVENTS

Competitive Car Show - Classes by make and generation. Award winners will include best of class and runner-up trophies.

Autocross Event – Hosted by Pikes Peak Sports Car Club, we will turn the road course into a very challenging and exciting autocross. This is open to any vehicle type, not just VAG products.

Slow Drags - Always entertaining! This is the opposite of regular drag racing. The last one to the finish line wins. It's not just about going slow, it's about going slow in style.

Event Specials - We have a number of awesome sponsors and vendors that will be at the event offering specials on their products and services.

Prize Raffle - Prizes separated by vehicle type and generation will also be taking place throughout the day.

ADDITIONAL INFO

Pre-register for all events online for the best prices (opens 15 June); day of event registration will be available but pre-registration is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.

Event t-shirts will be available. Pricing and sizing info will be up soon.

Volunteers are needed for assisting in day of event operations. Please contact Mr. Chris Durham at chris@dubsalongtherockies.com for available tasks.

We hate to have things this way but incidents in the VAG community demand that we take any steps necessary to ensure that our event be safe for all in attendance. With that said, THIS EVENT IS ABSOLUTELY 100% ALCOHOL FREE! There will be a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in effect which will be enforced by event staff and the local police department.

UPDATES

As more information becomes available, the DATR staff will start specific threads in the event forums and update them accordingly. Having separate threads will making finding specific info and details easier. If there are any questions in the mean time, please contact me directly (ken@dubsalongtherockies.com) for the quickest response. Please keep in mind that organizing this show is an on-going operation so some of the info you want may not be available yet but we're working on it.

With that said, be sure to mark your calendars for August 23rd, 2009! We look forward to having everyone at the event!

Thanks,

Dubs Along The Rockies Planning Committe
