CLUTCH?????
« on: October 19, 2008, 12:07:35 PM »

so looking for a good clutch for my 2006 a4 quattro. Have stage II APR, full exhaust, and in 14 days a water/meth from mike@vast. I have 41,000 on her and every so often get a slight slip on launch. more horsepower=more slip. I want good drive with street quality. By that I need something that will be good here for the autobahn, but fun on the tight roads, but in traffic wont kill my passengers. any ideas???? thanks ???

Southbend, I have one and they are recommended by just about everyone.  034 sells Spec stuff, but I personally hate them.  Also, if you send your flywheel to Southbend, they will turn it for you and send it back with your clutch.  I sent mine and had it back in 4 days.

There's a guy here in town that can usually turn one for you in less then 24hrs and specializes in dual mass flywheels...  We use him for all our machining work I can get the name of the place if you want.

I would recommend Southbend.  After Avalon recently tuned my Stg 3 S4 w/Water Meth, it ate through my RS4 clutch (which is a good problem to have  :) ).  I put in the SB OFE and the sucker holds the power very well.

Avalon sells them:

Southbend or clutchmasters are my two favorite

But i happen to really like the ECS setup they call the RA4, which uses either a s4 clutch or rs4 setup. Both setups are well capable of holding your setup and still give a perfect oem feel

I've gone this route and loved it.  Just make sure you get the steel flywheel for your Daily Driver.
