Ok, my oil drain plug on the Audi is not budging... I have tried all of the tricks except welding a bar to the bolt, and I did not do that because the pan is aluminum... not a good plan. How do you guys typically solve this issue? Any idea is welcome...

I tried wrenches, sockets, vice grips, pipe wrench, damaged bolt sockets (more grip), and a HUGE cheater bar.... nothing but sore arms. What do you suggest?

Turn it in the opposite direction than you are turning.

Dude - you can tack weld a bar on that drain plug without melting the aluminum pan. How hot does it get with a running engine bolted to it?! What I would be worried about is the condition of the aluminum threads. You might want to pick up a thread repair kit before you do this...

Of coarse the obvious, make sure you are actually untightening the bolt, but giving it a little torque in the opposit direction can break some of the tension and allow you to undo it. Next time don't crank it down so much.

I can't believe Im saying this, especially for a DRAIN PLUG, but have you tried an air tool?
You could take it to jiffy lube and when they break the mofo, they can pay for a new pan...

Or nap-a-size it and drill another hold in the pan and put a new plug in hahaha.

Just pick up a new pan nappy. You should see him with a screw extractor... a piece of mine is still connected to the waterpump on my old 16v.

I feel your pain Scott, I've had my fair share of oil-pan experiences...
I would find someone with a lift and take a 4 ft breaker bar to that ish.

I am going to pick up a new plug tomorrow and then work on getting this one out. Oil pan is pricey and I don't have time to get it done before my trip this weekend, so unless I NEED to get an oil pan, I am going to try and avoid it.

I know about the Fumoto valve, and I was cosidering it, but I need to get this damn ting out first. Apparently this is a very common issue with my car, and yes Pat I know I should not be having this problem which is why I am angry about it!

To top that off I also have a brake pad that decided it did not like to be attached to the backing plate. Ever priced brake pads for a Porsche 993tt?? The cheapest I have found is 83 bux plus shipping!

Yeah, you clearly have NO idea who you are talking to... strength is not the issue here. I had to drop it off for an alignment today, so I went ahead and bought a new drain plug and I will gladly pay them to take care of it at this point. If they screw up the pan, at least they are on the hook for it!
